Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Replication Lag" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an on-call operations dashboard at night. Near-black canvas, a faint teal grid, thin glowing lines, a red maintenance window and a softly glowing SLO line. Calm until something spikes.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #0B0F14. Top bar: #0F151C with a 1px #18232E bottom rule. Pills: #131C25 fill with a 1px #223040 stroke.
- Grid: #0E2A2E (horizontal and vertical, 1px).
- Series, in order: #22D3EE cyan, #C084FC violet, #FBBF24 amber. (These three pass color-vision checks on this canvas; do not swap in a lime next to the amber.)
- Maintenance or incident window: #7F1D1D at 38% opacity, with a 2px #DC2626 (80% opacity) rule along its top.
- SLO or threshold line: #F87171, label #FCA5A5.
- Text: #E6EDF3 primary, #7D8B99 secondary.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Sora 600, 23px, -0.3px letter-spacing, #E6EDF3 for the title (the finding).
- Fira Code for everything else: subtitle 12.5px #7D8B99; cluster name 14px 500; pill text 12px; axis labels 11px; window label 12px 500 #FCA5A5 with its time range in 400 #C98B8B; SLO label 11.5px 500; peak labels 11.5px 500 in the series color; footer 11px.

Layout:
- A 64px top bar: cluster name at the left, and one pill per series at the right (164 x 30, fully rounded) holding a colored status dot (4px radius solid on an 8px radius halo at 18% opacity), the series name and its latest value. The pills are the legend.
- Title at y 112, subtitle at y 140, both at x 36. Plot from x 76 to 916, y 184 to 520. Footer at y 578: "Source: illustrative data" left, refresh and window info right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines at each labeled value and vertical gridlines every half hour, all 1px #0E2A2E. Y labels with the unit suffix ("5s"), right-aligned 12px left of the plot. Time labels every hour, centered, 22px below the plot.
- The SLO line: 1.4px #F87171 dashed (7 5) with a Gaussian glow (stdDeviation 3.5, merged under the source). Label "SLO 5 s" right-aligned just above its right end.

Marks:
- Line chart: thin 1.6px straight polylines with round joins, each with a faint glow (stdDeviation 2.2 merged under the line). No markers except at peaks: a 3.5px ring (canvas fill, 1.6px series stroke). Peak labels ("replica-c peak 23.1 s") stacked just right of the shaded window, joined to their peaks by 1px dotted (1.5 3) leaders in the series color.
- Bar chart: slim bars (about 40% of the band) with 2px top radius in the series colors, grouped per time bucket, over the same teal grid; the window band and the glowing dashed SLO line sit behind and in front of the bars respectively.
- The maintenance window is a full-height translucent red band with its label above the plot, not inside it.

Avoid: thick lines, area fills, bright gridlines, a separate legend box, and letting peak labels sit on top of the lines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the pills match the series colors and latest values, the three series stay distinguishable where they overlap, the glow is not clipped, and the title's claim about the SLO is true for the data.
