Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Repair Tickets" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a maintenance work-order system's reporting screen. Charcoal, monospaced metadata, status chips and crisp stepped lines: operational, not decorative.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1B1B1F (charcoal). Header strip and callout panel: #232329, with 1px #34343C / #3A3A44 edges.
- Priority colors: emergency #F87171 (red), urgent #FBBF24 (amber), routine #D4D4D8 (light gray).
- Title and marker: #F4F4F5. Secondary text: #8E8E99. Faint footer text: #6E6E78. Gridlines #2E2E36; zero line #4A4A55.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow for the title (700, 32px, #F4F4F5, stating the change with numbers), the subtitle (400, 16px, #8E8E99), series names (600, 13px) and callout body (500, 13px).
- Roboto Mono for all metadata and axis text: header strip 11px with 1px letter-spacing, status chips 500 12px uppercase, axis labels 11px, end values 700 13px, footer 11px.

Layout:
- A 40px header strip across the top with the system path on the left ("EASTGATE HOUSING CO-OP // MAINTENANCE") and a report id and ticket count on the right.
- 40px side margins. Title y 90, subtitle y 116, then a row of status pill chips at y 138 as the legend: 26px tall, fully rounded, 13% fill and 55% stroke of the priority color, a 4px dot and the uppercase label in the priority color, 10px apart.
- Plot from x 88 to 830, y 196 to 494, leaving room on the right for end labels ("18d Routine").

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #2E2E36 gridlines every 10 units with mono labels suffixed "d". Month initials centered under each month; years centered under their months with a small divider between years.
- An event marker: a 1.5px #F4F4F5 dotted vertical line (1.5 on, 5 off, round caps) with a small #232329 callout box (4px radius) holding a mono date and a Barlow description.

Marks:
- Line chart: step-after lines, 2.5px, miter joins, one per priority, holding each month's value across the month. A 3.5px dot at the final value, followed by the mono value and the Barlow series name in the series color.
- Bar chart: monthly vertical bars 70% of the band, 2px top radius, in priority colors as small multiples or grouped by month, with values in mono above the latest bars and the same dotted event marker and callout.

Avoid: smoothing, area fills, glow, gradients, a boxed legend (use pill chips) and proportional fonts for numbers.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the steps change exactly at month boundaries, the event line sits on the right month edge, end labels don't collide, and the title's before and after numbers match the chart.
