Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Rent Roll" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a commercial leasing report for an office tower. A dark sidebar of hard building stats beside a clean white chart, blue on white, calm and exact.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Sidebar and headline ink: #2B2D31 (charcoal). Sidebar secondary text: #A7ABB3; sidebar dividers: #44474D. Main secondary text: #6B6F78. Gridlines: #E4E6EA.
- Series, darkest for the most important: #1D4E89, #4577B8, #7FA8DA, #B9D3EE. A long-tail "other" series uses a 45 degree hatch of 3px #A9C7E8 stripes on #EEF4FB (6px repeat).
- A 28 x 3 px #A9C7E8 rule above the sidebar name.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Condensed for the sidebar and all labels: building name 24px 600 uppercase, 1.5px letter-spacing, white; stat labels 13px 500 uppercase, 1.8px letter-spacing, #A7ABB3; stat values 58px 600 white with a 20px 500 #A7ABB3 unit suffix; subtitle 17px #6B6F78; legend 15px 500; axis labels 14-15px; totals 15px 600 charcoal; marker tag 14px 600 uppercase white.
- Lora 600, 25px, charcoal for the headline stating the finding. Lora italic 15px for the in-segment label of the largest series.

Layout:
- A 224px full-height charcoal sidebar at the left: name, a one-line descriptor, then three stats (for example area, occupancy, weighted term), each with a 1px divider above; the source line at the sidebar bottom in 13px #A7ABB3.
- Main area from x 268 to 912: headline, subtitle, a one-row legend of 12px square swatches, then the chart (plot x 312 to 912, top about 186, baseline about 500), then a 1px rule and a one-line note in 14px #6B6F78.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #E4E6EA gridlines at 4 round values with "k" labels, a 1.2px charcoal baseline, no vertical grid. Category labels 24px below the baseline; the headline category in 700 charcoal.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked square-cornered columns 34px wide, darkest series at the bottom, 1px white lines between segments, the total in 15px 600 above each column. Label the single largest segment inside itself, rotated 90 degrees, in Lora italic white ("Harrow Legal, 118k").
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per series in the same blues (hatch series as a 2px #A9C7E8 dashed line), square 5px markers, and the largest series labeled at its peak in Lora italic.
- Average marker: a 1.5px charcoal dashed (5 on, 4 off) vertical line at the weighted average position, topped by a 116 x 22 px charcoal tag (2px radius) reading "WALE 5.1 YRS".

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, shadows, colors outside the blue family, and a y-axis line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the sidebar stats and headline percentage match the data, the rotated label fits inside its segment, and the dashed marker sits at the computed weighted average.
