Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Remit Inflows" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a warm, modern dark report on money sent home to an island nation. Deep teal-black like a night harbor, four sunny colors stacked like cargo, and last year's shape ghosted behind for comparison.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B1F1E (deep teal-black).
- Series, bottom to top: #F2B33D (saffron), #2FB38A (jade), #63B9F2 (sky blue), #EE7FA4 (rose).
- Primary text: #EAF2EF. Secondary text: #8DA6A1. Gridlines: #18302E (zero line #2B4744). Ghost outline: #9FB8B2. Callout fill: #12302E.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Kanit throughout. Title 29px 600 #EAF2EF stating the finding; subtitle 16px 300 muted with measure, unit and year.
- Legend 14px 400; axis labels 13px 300 muted; category labels 14px 400 muted (the peak month 600 in primary text); totals above bars 13px 500; peak total 18px 700 saffron; callout title 15px 600 saffron and body 13.5px; source 12px 300.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Title, subtitle, then a compact horizontal legend: 12px swatches with 3px radius, 26px between items, ending with a dashed outline swatch labeled "2024 total".
- Chart below, y labels on the left, month labels under the bars. A footer line with the source at left and full-year totals at right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #18302E gridlines at round values only (4 or 5 lines), no axis lines, no vertical grid.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked bars 38px wide, segments separated by 1.5px background gaps, only the top segment gets 7px rounded top corners. Behind each bar a 50px-wide ghost of the prior year's total: #9FB8B2 at 6% fill with a 1.2px outline at 55% opacity, dashed 4 on 3, same 7px rounded top. Total label 9px above whichever is taller.
- Callout the peak: saffron total above the bar, and a 196 x 54 rounded (10px) #12302E box with a 1px saffron border to its left ("Holiday peak" plus the change on the prior year), joined by a 1.2px saffron line to the label.
- Line chart: four 2.5px lines in the series colors (or stacked areas at 85% opacity with 1.5px gaps), round joins, a 1.2px dashed #9FB8B2 line for last year's total, direct end labels, and the same peak callout.

Avoid: pure black, neon glows, gradients on the bars, a boxed legend, 3D.

When you're done, render the chart and check that segment sums equal the totals shown, the peak callout's percentage matches the data, ghost outlines stay visible behind the bars and the legend fits on one line.
