Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Relay Legs" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a clean digital results board at a swim meet. White board, one deep water blue title band, blue segments that read in order from dark to light, and a gold outline around the winner.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Title band: #0B4F6C full width, 118px tall, with a #9DD1E8 eyebrow, #FFFFFF title and #CFE6F1 subtitle.
- Segments in order: #0B4F6C, #2F7FA6, #5FAED3, #9DD1E8. Text inside the two dark segments #FFFFFF; inside the two light ones #0A2F40.
- Winner highlight: #C99A2E (gold). Ink #10222C; secondary text #5B6B74; gridlines and footer rule #E3E9ED.

Typography (Google Fonts): Albert Sans throughout.
- Eyebrow 600 13px uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing. Title 700 29px stating the finding. Subtitle 400 15px.
- Legend 500 13px; category names 500 15px (winner 700); rank numbers 700 15px (winner gold); segment labels 600 12.5px; bar-end values 600 14px; winner total 800 15px gold; axis 12px; source 12px.

Layout:
- 40px side margins. Title band on top with eyebrow at y 40, title at y 78, subtitle at y 103.
- Legend row at y 148 aligned with the plot's left edge: 14px rounded squares (2px radius) with numbered labels ("1. Backstroke").
- Rank number at x 40 and category name at x 62; plot from x 196 to 820; rows 44px tall with 28px bars. Footer rule at y 570, source and note at y 588.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical 1px #E3E9ED gridlines every 30 seconds, labeled m:ss under the plot. No axis lines, no y axis.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal stacked bars with square corners, sorted fastest first. 1.5px white separators between segments. Each segment carries "initials value" centered. The winner gets a 2.5px gold outline with 3px radius drawn 3px outside the bar and its total time in gold at the bar end; every other bar ends with the gap to the winner ("+0.77") in ink, 12px after the bar.
- Line chart: the four blues as 2.5px lines with 4px dots, darkest for the most important series; the winning series gets a 2px gold halo ring on its final point and a gold end label; other series end with their gap to it. Same white board, title band and 30-unit vertical grid.

Avoid: rounded bar ends, gradients, shadows, colors outside the blue ramp except the single gold highlight, a y-axis line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that segment text fits and stays legible on both light and dark blues, the gaps are computed from the totals, and only one bar is outlined in gold.
