Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Recovery Score" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the recovery trends view of a premium sleep and health app. Dark, organic and composed: sage on near-black, a quiet baseline band and small amber warnings.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #141A17 (dark sage-black).
- Primary series: #B7D8B0 (pale sage). Smoothed average: #6E9E66 (deeper sage). Event markers: #E6A94B (amber).
- Title ink #E9F0E6, secondary text #95A391. Baseline band: #B7D8B0 at 8% fill with 1px dashed (2 on, 3 off) edges at 30%. Gridlines #E9F0E6 at 7%.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Instrument Serif 400, 40px, #E9F0E6 for the title stating the finding in plain words ("Stress-tagged nights ran about 10 ms lower").
- Hanken Grotesk for everything else: subtitle 15px #95A391 with measure, unit and window; legend 13px #E9F0E6; axis labels 12.5px #95A391; in-plot stat lines 13.5px 600 (sage for the normal group, amber for the flagged group); source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Title at y 82, subtitle at 114, a legend row at y 146 (thin line "Nightly", thick line "7-night average", dashed swatch "Baseline 52–68 ms", amber dot "High-stress tag").
- Plot from x 84 to 900, y 178 to 456. An event strip 22px below the plot with a faint 1px line and the word "stress" in 11px amber to its left. Night labels 52px below the plot.
- Two right-aligned stat lines in the empty lower right of the plot comparing group averages, colored to match their groups.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines. Y numbers every 10 right-aligned 12px left of the plot; gridlines only every 20.
- The personal baseline is a shaded horizontal band across the full plot width with dashed edges.

Marks:
- Line chart: the nightly series as a 1.6px #B7D8B0 polyline with straight segments; the 7-night trailing average as a smooth 4px #6E9E66 curve with round caps drawn on top. Flagged nights get a 2.6px amber dot on the nightly line AND a 4.5px amber dot on the event strip.
- Bar chart: slim square-topped bars in #B7D8B0 at 70% opacity (bars for flagged periods in #E6A94B), the average as the 4px #6E9E66 curve over them, and the same shaded baseline band behind.

Avoid: bright greens, red alarms, glow effects, gradients, heavy gridlines, dual axes and legends inside the plot.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the average is visibly distinct from the nightly line, amber dots align with their nights on both the line and the strip, and the title difference equals the difference of the two displayed averages.
