Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Ranking Path" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the career page of a tour player on a hardcourt-blue background. One bold white path climbing to the top, a quieter rival line, gold stars for trophies, and a shaded band for time away.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0F2A4A (hardcourt blue).
- Main series: #FFFFFF, drawn over an 8px #0F2A4A casing so it cuts cleanly across other lines.
- Rival or comparison series: #7FA3C8. Highlights (title wins, eyebrow): #F2C14E (gold).
- Secondary text: #9DB3CB. Gridlines and season dividers: #24446A. Event band: white at 7% opacity with a 3px white 35% cap strip on top.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Hanken Grotesk throughout. Eyebrow 700 12px uppercase, 2.2px letter-spacing, gold. Title 700 31px, -0.6px letter-spacing, white, stating the finding. Subtitle 400 15px #9DB3CB. Axis labels 500 13px (the top rank label "No. 1" 700 white). Season labels 600 13px. End labels 800 14px white for the main series and 600 13px rival blue. Band labels 700 and 500 11px uppercase.

Layout:
- 64px margins. Eyebrow, title, subtitle top left. Plot from x 104 to 836 and y 184 to 504, leaving the right margin for end labels. Season names centered under each season; legend row (star, white line, blue line) bottom left at y 562 and source bottom right.

Axes and grid:
- Rank on an inverted log axis: 1 at the top, 200 at the bottom, ticks at 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200. Gridlines 0.8px #24446A dotted 2 on 4; the No. 1 line solid 1.4px.
- Season dividers: 1px #24446A verticals. No axis lines.

Marks:
- Line chart: weekly values drawn as steps (hold each week's value, then jump). Main line 3.2px white, rival 1.6px #7FA3C8 at 90% opacity. Five-point gold stars (outer radius 10, inner 45%) with a 1.5px background-colored outline sit on the main line at title wins. Label the starting value near the first point.
- Bar chart: slim vertical bars hanging down from the top rank line (rank 1 at the top, bars measure rank depth on the same log scale) in white for the main series with rival values as #7FA3C8 ticks; gold stars above bars for highlights; keep the shaded event band.
- Event band: spans the full plot height with a two-line label at its lower left ("INJURY" / "26 WEEKS OUT").

Avoid: a linear rank scale (the climb near the top disappears), smoothing the steps, glows, and more than one accent color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that No. 1 is at the top, the main line reads clearly where it crosses the rival line, stars sit exactly on the line and the week counts in the title and subtitle match the data.
