Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Race Bib" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the chart is printed on a running race bib lying on a gray table: a bold red header band, safety pin holes, a huge faint bib number, and a perforated tear-off timing strip with a barcode. Sporty and graphic, but tidy enough for a coaching report.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Table (canvas): #E3E3E0.
- Bib: #FFFFFF.
- Header band, highlight mark and bib-number box: #D7263D (bib red).
- Ordinary marks, labels and barcode: #151515 (print black).
- Secondary text and perforation: #8A8A86. Gridlines and pin hole rims: #DCDCD8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Staatliches for the header: eyebrow 20px, 3px letter-spacing, white at 85% opacity ("LAKESHORE 50K · TRAINING BLOCK"); title 38px white, uppercase, stating the finding; a 38px year at the right of the band in white at 55% opacity. Also for the "PEAK" tag (16px, 1.5px letter-spacing, red), the strip heading (17px, 2px letter-spacing) and the bib box (13px caption, 24px number).
- Karla for everything else: subtitle 15.5px 400 #8A8A86 with measure, unit and total; category labels 13px 600 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing (800 and red for the highlighted row); value labels 14px 800; axis numbers 12.5px; source 12.5px.

Layout:
- The bib is a white 816 x 540 rectangle with 12px radius at (72, 30), with a soft drop shadow (dy 3, blur 5, black at 16%).
- The red band fills the top 96px of the bib (clipped to its rounded corners); eyebrow at 38px and title at 78px below the bib top, 40px from the bib edge.
- Subtitle 32px below the band. Plot area x 200 to 800, rows starting at y 170.
- Four safety pin holes: r 6 circles filled with the table color, 1.5px #DCDCD8 rim plus a 3px black rim at 8% opacity, 18px in from the side edges, 16px below the top and 24px above the perforation.
- Perforation at y 486: 1.2px #8A8A86 dashes (3 on, 5 off) with r 7 table-colored notches cut into both bib edges. Below it the timing strip: a barcode (random 1 to 4px black bars, 36px tall, about 210px wide) with a spaced 11px number underneath, a strip heading and the source line in the middle, and a 110 x 46 red outlined box with "BIB" and the number on the right.
- Behind the plot, the bib number in Staatliches 300px black at 4.5% opacity, centered.

Axes and grid:
- No frame. A 1.5px black vertical baseline at zero, 1px #DCDCD8 vertical gridlines at quarter steps, axis numbers under the last row, "0 km" style unit on the zero label.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal square-cornered bars 16px tall in 27px rows, solid #151515, the one highlighted bar (peak, record or latest) in #D7263D with a red "PEAK" tag after its value. Value labels 8px past the bar end in the bar's color.
- Line chart: a 3px #151515 line with square 7px black markers, the highlighted point as a 10px red square with its value and tag; the same bib, band, number and strip around it.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients on the bib, more than one red mark, extra colors, heavy gridlines, making the background number dark enough to compete with the bars.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the bib reads as a bib at thumbnail size (band, pin holes, perforation, barcode), axis numbers clear the perforation, and only one data mark is red.
