Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Quitline Calls" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a friendly campaign effectiveness tracker from a health promotion team. Warm butter yellow paper, one calm charcoal line, soft orange bands that show when the paid media ran, and a single callout naming the creative behind the best week.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FBF6E3 (pale butter yellow).
- Data line, headline and baseline: #2B2B2E (charcoal).
- Flight bands: #F6C48F at 42% opacity, with a solid 3px #F6C48F cap at the top edge.
- Band labels, eyebrow and callout detail line: #B25E1C (burnt orange).
- Secondary text: #6E6858. Gridlines: #E9E1C6.

Typography (Google Fonts): Rubik throughout.
- Eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in #B25E1C.
- Headline 30px 600 charcoal, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the peak and how it compares with baseline.
- Subtitle 15px 400 #6E6858 naming the measure and saying the flights are shaded.
- Band labels 11px 600 uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing ("FLIGHT 1"). Axis labels 12px. Callout 14px 600 plus a 12.5px 500 detail line. Legend 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow y 58, headline y 98, subtitle y 126. Plot from x 92 to 904, y 196 to 494. A one-row legend at y 540, source line at y 578.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines every round step in 1px #E9E1C6; y labels right-aligned in #6E6858; a 1.2px charcoal baseline.
- X axis: month ticks 6px long with the month name set just right of each tick, 12px #6E6858.
- Flight bands span the full plot height plus 26px above it, where the band label sits inside the band's top-left.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 2.6px charcoal line with straight segments and round joins, no point markers except the peak (5.5px radius charcoal dot with a 2px paper-colored ring).
- Baseline: the pre-campaign average as a 1.6px charcoal dotted line (1.5 on, 4 off, round caps) across the whole plot, labeled once in 12px 500 charcoal just below it in a quiet stretch.
- Peak callout: a short 1px charcoal leader to the right of the peak, then "427 calls, week 33" and, beneath, the flight and its creative theme in quotes in #B25E1C.
- Bar chart: slim charcoal bars (about 60% of the band, square corners) on the same shaded flights and dotted baseline, with the peak bar called out the same way.

Avoid: color on the line itself, gradients, area fills, a legend inside the plot, more than one callout, dense tick labels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every flight band has its label, the baseline label does not touch the line, the peak callout fits inside the canvas, and the headline ratio is peak divided by the baseline average.
