Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Queue Wallboard" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a contact-center wall display read from across the room. Pure black, huge glowing seven-segment numbers, chunky bars and blunt red flags where demand outruns supply.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #050505. Tiles: #101010 with a 1px #1E1E1E border, radius 6, and a 4px left accent bar in the tile's value color.
- Readout numerals: #FBBF24 amber for demand metrics (calls waiting, longest wait); #14B8A6 teal for supply (agents available).
- Bars: #14B8A6 teal. Demand markers, alert text and the LIVE dot: #EF4444 red.
- Headline ink #F5F5F4, secondary #8A8A87, gridlines #1C1C1C, baseline #3A3A3A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Oswald for the headline (500, 26px, #F5F5F4) and the bar value numbers (600, 22px).
- Roboto Condensed for tile labels (700, 13px uppercase, 1.8px letter-spacing, #8A8A87), tile target notes (700 11.5px, 1.2px letter-spacing, red when the value misses target), the org line (700 12px, 1.6px letter-spacing), category labels (700 16px uppercase, 0.6px letter-spacing; #EF4444 when that category is in trouble, #F5F5F4 otherwise), axis ticks (500 16px) and legend (700 13px).
- Big numbers are not a font: draw seven-segment digits as hexagonal segments (digit about 50 x 78px, 9px thick, 1.6px gaps between segments, 9px between digits), skewed -7 degrees. Unlit segments stay visible at 7% opacity. Colons are two 9px squares. Add a soft glow: gaussian blur 3.5 at 55% alpha merged under the digits.

Layout:
- Header row: a red dot and "LIVE" (700 15px, 2px letter-spacing), then the headline stating the problem; org name and a one-line description right-aligned.
- Three 280 x 132px tiles across the top at y 78, 20px apart: label top-left, target note top-right, readout below.
- Bar plot from y 250 to 508 across the full width, legend and source on the bottom line.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #1C1C1C horizontal gridlines at a few round values, a 2px #3A3A3A baseline, y ticks at 16px. No vertical grid.

Marks:
- Bar chart: square-cornered teal bars about half the band wide (58px for 7 bars), the value in black Oswald 22px just inside the bar top. Demand for each category is an 8px red horizontal marker 20px wider than the bar, drawn over it at its value, with the value in red Oswald 22px just right of the marker.
- Line chart: a 4px teal line for supply with square 8px markers, and demand as a 3px red stepped line; latest values as seven-segment readouts at the right end in the line colors.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, thin hairline type, small labels, pastel colors, and decoration that would not read from ten meters away.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the tile totals equal the sums of the bar data, every red marker sits at its true value, trouble categories (demand above supply) are the ones labeled red, and the seven-segment digits are correct with their unlit segments barely visible.
