Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pumpdown" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a vacuum control-room trend display. Technical, calm and precise: a dark blue-gray panel, one glowing pale cyan trace on a log scale, monospace labels and a green target to hit.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #121821.
- Trace: #9FE7F5 (pale cyan) with a soft glow of the same color.
- Target line, its label and the crossing marker: #5FD38A.
- An optional highlighted phase (such as a bakeout): #E0A458 at 6% opacity as a full-height band.
- Major gridlines: #233041. Minor log gridlines: #18212D. Title #EEF3F8, stage labels #C9D3DF, secondary text #7D8B9C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Syne Mono throughout (weight 400). Title 26px #EEF3F8; subtitle 14px #7D8B9C naming measure, unit and scale.
- Stage labels 12.5px uppercase with 0.8px letter-spacing; tick labels 13 to 14px; readouts 14px. Powers of ten written as "10" with the exponent as a raised tspan (10px, dy -7), never with superscript characters.

Layout:
- Title at x 56 baseline 58, subtitle at 88. Plot from x 104 to 900 and y 164 to 500.
- Stage ticks sit just above the plot: a 1.6px 10px-tall tick at each stage start with its uppercase name 6px to the right; stagger a label up by 24px if it would collide with the next. A dotted 0.8px line (2 on, 3 off, 55% opacity) drops from each tick to the trace.
- The target line runs across the plot with its label ("TARGET 5 x 10^-9 mbar") at the left, 24px below the line; the time of crossing is labeled beside a 5.5px open green circle, and the latest reading ("NOW ...") sits at the right above the target line with a small cyan end dot.

Axes and grid:
- Logarithmic y axis with major gridlines at every decade and minor gridlines at 2 to 9 of each decade; label every other decade. Time axis in hours with vertical gridlines every 6 h, labeled "0 h", "6 h". The unit ("mbar") sits above the y tick labels.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 2px #9FE7F5 trace with round joins and a glow copy beneath (4px wide, 35% opacity, Gaussian blur 3.2, filter region covering the full canvas). Let the real knees show where each stage starts.
- Bar chart: slim bars in #9FE7F5 at 85% opacity from the axis baseline (on a log scale, bars start at the lowest decade shown), with the same glow at lower strength, the dashed green target line across them and stage ticks above.

Effects:
- Target line: 1.6px #5FD38A dashed (8 on, 5 off). Glow filters use filterUnits="userSpaceOnUse" across the whole canvas so nothing clips.

Avoid: multiple trace colors, bright gridlines, proportional fonts, superscript Unicode digits, gradients in the background and heavy fills under the trace.

When you're done, render the chart and check that decades are evenly spaced, the minor gridlines stay subtle, the crossing time printed in the title matches where the trace meets the target, and no stage label collides with another.
