Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Proposal Pipeline" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a research development office dashboard. Friendly, modern and calm on a pale lilac-gray page, with a KPI card and violet deadline chips that make the rhythm of the calendar obvious.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F6F5FA. KPI card: #FFFFFF with a 1px #E1DEEA border, 12px radius.
- Primary (leading) series: #6D28D9 (violet). Secondary (outcome) series: #059669 (green).
- Highlight bands for key periods: #E9E3F7 (lilac); legend swatch outline #C9BEEA.
- Ink: #1E1B2E. Secondary text: #6B6880. Gridlines: #E1DEEA; baseline #A8A3BD.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Plus Jakarta Sans throughout: eyebrow 11px 700 uppercase, 1.8px letter-spacing, violet; title 26px 800, -0.4px letter-spacing, #1E1B2E, stating the finding; subtitle 14px #6B6880; KPI label 10px 700 uppercase 1.4px letter-spacing; KPI value 38px 800 green; KPI detail 11px 600; axis labels 11 to 12px; direct labels 13px 700 in series colors.

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Eyebrow at y 60, title at y 94, subtitle at y 120. KPI card top right (172 x 106px) with a label, a big percentage and a one-line "n of m" detail.
- Plot from about y 160 to a baseline at y 468, x 92 to 872; direct series labels to the right of the last points.
- Under each month a label; highlighted months get a violet pill chip (32 x 20px, 10px radius) with the month in white 11px 700. Year labels 12px 700 below, separated by short #A8A3BD vertical ticks.
- Footer: a small lilac swatch explaining the bands on the left, the source on the right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines except a 1px #A8A3BD baseline. 1px #E1DEEA horizontal gridlines at round steps, extending 14px past the plot. Y labels right-aligned 24px left of the plot.
- Full-height lilac #E9E3F7 bands one slot wide behind highlighted periods.

Marks:
- Line chart: the leading series as a thin 1.6px violet straight-segment line with hollow ring markers (r 3.6, page-colored fill, 1.6px violet stroke) on every point; the outcome series as a thicker 3.5px green line with round joins, solid green dots (r 4.5, 1.5px page-colored ring) only on its peaks. Label the maximum of each series in 13px 700. A thin 1px ink bracket with "5-month lag" style text links a leading peak to the outcome peak it produced.
- Bar chart: paired thin bars per period, violet (leading) 10px and green (outcome) 14px wide with 3px rounded tops, sitting on the same lilac bands and chips; values above the peaks only.

Avoid: smoothing the lines, filled areas, legends in a box (label directly), dark backgrounds, and more than two data colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the KPI rate equals the total outcome divided by the total leading count, the chips line up with the bands, and the lag bracket does not touch either line.
