Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Program Signups" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a community center bulletin board. Friendly, tidy and warm: a cork strip across the top with a pinned season card, thin cheerful lines on warm white paper, and a yellow paper note pinned where the key event happened. Approachable, never childish.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFCF5 (warm white).
- Cork strip: #D6B889, speckled with small #B8955F dots at 55% opacity, with a 2px #B8955F line under it.
- Series, in order: #E4572E (tomato), #F3A712 (sunflower), #4C9F70 (leaf), #3A86FF (sky). For text labels use slightly deeper versions so they read on white: #D0482A, #B97A00, #3E8A5F, #2F6FD6.
- Ink: #3B2F22. Secondary text: #7A6F5E. Gridlines and footer rule: #EDE5D3; baseline #CDBF9F.
- Pinned note paper: #FFF3B8. Push pins: #C0392B with a small white highlight at 70% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Vollkorn for the title (700, 31px, #3B2F22, sentence case, stating the finding), the organization name in the cork strip (600, 15px), the date line on the note (600, 15px) and an italic 13px sign-off in the footer.
- Asap for everything else: season card 600 14px uppercase with 3px letter-spacing; subtitle 16px #7A6F5E; axis labels 13px #7A6F5E; series names 600 15px in the series label color; the value line under each name 12px #7A6F5E; source 12px.

Layout:
- A 48px cork strip spans the full width at the top. On its left, a white season card (248 x 32, #FFFCF5 with a 1px #E4D6B8 border) rotated -1.5 degrees and held by a push pin (r 4.5) at its top center. The organization name sits right-aligned in the strip.
- 44px side margins. Title baseline at about y 104, subtitle at about y 134.
- Plot from x 76 to x 760, y 236 to y 508. The right 150px holds direct series labels.
- A thin footer rule at y 554 with "Source: ..." at left and an italic sign-off ("Posted by the front desk") at right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #EDE5D3, at round values (three or four of them); the zero line is 1.2px #CDBF9F.
- Y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No axis titles; the subtitle names the measure.
- X labels every second period, centered under 5px #CDBF9F tick marks.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments, 2.4px, round joins and caps, one color per series. Every point gets a small open dot (r 3, #FFFCF5 fill, 1.8px stroke in the series color). Label the notable peak with its value in 600 13px. Name each series at the right end: the name on one line, "N last week, N total" under it; dodge labels vertically so they are at least 36px apart and join each to its line end with a thin 1px curved leader in the series color.
- Bar chart: grouped vertical bars in the same four colors, 2px corner radius on top only, 3px gaps within a group and a 1.5px #FFFCF5 outline on each bar. Label the tallest bar of the key period. Legend as the same right-side name list, or a row of 12px square swatches under the subtitle.

Labels and annotation:
- Mark the key date (for example, registration opening) with a 1px #7A6F5E dashed (3 on, 4 off) vertical line from the event to the baseline, topped by a pinned note: a 172 x 58 #FFF3B8 rectangle rotated -3 degrees, a soft offset shadow (black at 8%, 2px right, 3px down), a push pin (r 5.5) at top center, "Registration opens" in Asap 600 14px and the date in Vollkorn 600 15px, both centered. Keep the note above the plot, clear of every line.

Avoid: drop shadows on data, gradients, thick lines, heavy borders, legends boxed in frames, emoji or clip-art pins, and more than one pinned note.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the note does not cover any line, the right-side labels never touch each other, the sunflower label is readable on the white page, and the cork speckle stays inside the top strip.
