Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Power Trace" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a bench power analyzer capture. Near-black canvas, one thin bright green trace with a faint phosphor glow, phases as alternating dark bands labeled along the top like a logic analyzer, a dashed amber limit and a precise peak callout. Monospaced and instrument-like, but tidy enough for a design review.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #0D0F12 (near-black). Alternating phase band: #161A20 (every other phase; the rest stay canvas color).
- Trace, peak ring and peak label: #6EF08A (bright green).
- Limit line and its label: #F0A83A (amber).
- Primary text and the peak dot: #E6EAF0. Secondary text: #8B93A1. Gridlines: #1F242C. Baseline and tick marks: #3A414C.

Typography (Google Fonts): Geist Mono throughout.
- Title 21px 600, -0.4px letter-spacing, #E6EAF0, stating the finding (where the peak happens and its headroom to the limit).
- Subtitle 13.5px 400 #8B93A1 with measure, unit, window and device.
- Phase names 10.5px 600 uppercase with 0.6px letter-spacing in #E6EAF0, with the phase duration below in 10px #8B93A1.
- Axis labels 11.5px #8B93A1. Limit label 11px 600 uppercase amber. Peak label 13px 700 green with a 11.5px gray timestamp below. Source 11px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins; title at y 56, subtitle at 84; the unit ("mA") sits above the y labels.
- Plot from x 88 to 904 and y 150 to 500. Phase bands start 34px above the plot top so the phase labels sit in the band heads, 8px in from each band's left edge.
- X axis title right-aligned under the tick labels ("time after power-on, ms"), source at y 578 and a sampling note at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Y axis from 0 with gridlines every 50 units in 1px #1F242C; the zero line in #3A414C. Labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot.
- X ticks every 10 units, 5px long, #3A414C, labels 21px below the baseline (first left-aligned, last right-aligned).

Marks:
- Line chart: the trace is a 1.2px #6EF08A straight-segment line through every sample (do not smooth or decimate away spikes), with a glow copy underneath: the same path at 3px stroke, 35% opacity, blurred with a Gaussian blur of 2.2 (filter region covering the whole canvas). The limit is a 1.2px amber line dashed 6 on, 4 off with its label right-aligned just above it. Peak: a 3.8px #E6EAF0 dot inside an 8px green ring at 60% opacity, a 32px gray leader to the right, then the value and time.
- Bar chart: thin square-cornered columns in #6EF08A (about 40% of the band) with no glow, the same phase bands behind them, the amber dashed limit, and the tallest column marked with the same dot, ring and label.

Avoid: thick or smoothed traces, area fills, gradients, rounded boxes, more than one accent beyond green and amber, and a label background box that paints over the phase bands.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the peak value in the title matches the marked sample, the headroom is limit minus peak, every phase band spans its exact time range, and the glow is not clipped at the plot edges.
