Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Power Curve" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a sports-science performance report from a pro team's lab. Clean white page, tight condensed type, one precise magenta line over a soft gray reference, and a side table of the numbers that matter.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Current series, eyebrow, value labels and change column: #D6246E (magenta).
- Reference or prior-period series: #C4C8CF (pale gray).
- Ink: #1B1E24 for the title, axis labels, the baseline and the reference line. Secondary text: #6B7079. Gridlines: #E8EAEE. Side table panel: #F7F7F9 with #E1E3E8 row rules.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Encode Sans Condensed throughout. Eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase, 2px letter-spacing, magenta, with slashes between team, section and athlete. Title 30px 700 ink stating the finding with numbers. Subtitle 16px 400 #6B7079 naming measure, unit and scale. Axis labels 13 to 14px (x labels 600 ink, y labels 400 muted). Value labels 14px 700 magenta. Table: 12px 700 caps header with 1.6px letter-spacing, 16px 600 row names, 18px 700 values, 15px 600 magenta changes.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Header block at the top; plot from x 84 to 668 and y 162 to 486; a 192 px wide side table at x 712 spanning the plot height, with a 4px magenta bar on its left edge. A full-width 1px #E8EAEE rule above a one-line source note at the bottom.
- Legend at the top right of the plot: a 28px line sample and a 14px 600 label for each series (the prior series label in #6B7079).

Axes and grid:
- Light 1px #E8EAEE horizontal and vertical gridlines; a 1.2px ink baseline; no axis lines otherwise. Unit ("W") above the top y label.
- For durations use a log x scale with human tick labels (1s, 5s, 15s, 1m, 5m, 20m, 1h, 2h) and an axis caption under the right end.

Marks:
- Line chart: the current series as a thin 2px magenta smooth line (monotone interpolation, round caps) drawn over a 4px pale gray line for the reference period. Key points get hollow dots (r 4.5, white fill, 2px magenta ring) with their values in 14px 700 magenta; where points crowd, lift the label on a 1px magenta leader 30px above the dot. A benchmark or threshold is a full-width 1.2px ink dashed line (6 on, 4 off) with its label and value in 13px 700 ink on a white knockout just above the line at the left.
- Bar chart: slim square-cornered columns in magenta for the current period with 4px pale gray #C4C8CF columns (or a wider pale gray column behind each magenta one) for the reference, values in 14px 700 magenta above, the same dashed benchmark line and side table.

Avoid: filled areas, gradients, heavy gridlines, bright colors other than magenta, rounded panel corners, and more than two series.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the curve stays inside the plot at its extremes, no value label touches the lines or another label, the table values match the dots, and the title's numbers are arithmetically right.
