Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Player Skin" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a dark chrome media-player skin from the early 2000s. Gunmetal, smoked glass, glowing readouts and chunky transport buttons.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0C0D0F. Skin body: #23262B, with a vertical gradient from #3A3F46 (top 8%) through #23262B to #1D2024 and a #2C3036 bottom lip; 1px #51565E outline and 22px radius.
- Title bar: glossy gradient #5A6069 to #3A3F46, hard step at 52% to #2D3137, ending #34383F.
- Smoked glass wells (marquee, display, readout): vertical gradient #0E1216 to #090B0D with a 1px black edge.
- Series 1: electric lime #B6FF3B. Series 2: readout cyan #3BD5FF, dashed 7/4. More series: #FF4FD8, then #FFB23B.
- Chrome text: #C9CED6. Title #EEF1F4, secondary #8C949E, axis #6D7A84. Gridlines #1E2A30, grid dots #2E3A40.
- Buttons: gradient #6A717B to #434850, hard step at 52% to #363A41, ending #2A2E33.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Exo 2 700 for the title-bar name (14px, 2.5px letter-spacing, all caps) and Exo 2 600 for the chart title (24px, a sentence stating the finding).
- Share Tech Mono for every readout: marquee 14px with 1px letter-spacing, subtitle 13px caps, legend 13px, axis and seek labels 12px, value callouts 13 to 14px.

Layout:
- Title bar 36px with minimize/maximize/close buttons at the right; beveled chrome screws (6px radius, radial #D9DDE2 to #8A9098 to #3C4148, a dark slot) in all four corners.
- Marquee strip under the title bar, 30px tall, with a scrolling-style lime status line and a cyan time readout at the right.
- Title and subtitle at the left; legend at the right with a tiny 5-bar equalizer icon in alternating lime and cyan.
- Recessed display well (10px radius) holding the chart. Under it, the seek bar doubles as the x axis. A row of seven transport buttons (46 x 32px, 6px radius) below, the play glyph lit in lime, then a wedge volume slider and a readout box.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal #1E2A30 gridlines, a dot grid of 1px #2E3A40 dots every 26 x 24px, y labels inside the well at the left.
- Seek bar: a 10px black groove with a lime progress fill up to the highlighted point and a ridged chrome thumb there; ticks and labels (N01, N05...) below it.

Texture and effects:
- Scanlines over every glass well: 1px black lines every 3px at 35%.
- Glow on data: Gaussian blur 4px merged twice under the stroke. Readout text glow: blur 2px merged under the text.
- A faint top-half sheen on the display (white at 7% fading to 0 by 45%).

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.5px straight segments with glow, 4px square point markers on the primary series, a lime area fill at 6% under it. Highlight the key point with a 6px glowing ring, a dotted drop line and a MAX readout.
- Bar chart: columns as stacks of 4px-tall lime segments separated by 2px gaps (a spectrum-analyzer look), with glow and a peak-hold cap 3px above each bar; a second series in cyan segments beside it.

Avoid: flat gray panels, pure white, bright gridlines, serif fonts, clutter in the well, and em dashes.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glows are not clipped at the well edges, the seek thumb sits exactly on the highlighted point, and the two series stay distinct without color (solid versus dashed).
