Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Planogram" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a store planning sheet. Every row is a gondola shelf, every unit is a product facing standing on it. Tidy, countable and practical, with flat saturated brand colors on pale gray.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #EFEFED. Ink: #1E2227. Secondary text: #686C72. Rules: #D6D6D2. Shelf rails: #2E3238.
- Categories, in order: #E4572E (tomato), #F3A712 (marigold), #29A19C (teal), #253C78 (navy).
- The highlighted category (for example the store's own brand) is drawn outlined: fill #D5DAE6, 1.8px #253C78 stroke.

Typography (Google Fonts): Red Hat Display throughout.
- Eyebrow and sheet reference 12px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing, #686C72. Title 27px 800, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding. Subtitle 15px 500 #686C72 explaining the unit ("one block = one facing").
- Row names 15px 700 with a 12px 500 gray detail line under them. Legend names 13.5px 700 with share 13.5px 500 gray. Right column numbers 16px 800 (highlight share in #253C78, totals in ink) under 10.5px 700 uppercase headers with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow at y 50 with the sheet reference right-aligned, title at y 92, subtitle at y 120, a one-line legend at y 146 to 164.
- Rows 68px apart starting near y 196. Row labels at x 56; units start at x 196. A right column at x 800 to 904 with thin #D6D6D2 separators between rows.
- Footer rule at y 556, source at left and a totals line at right (12px).

Axes and grid:
- No axes or gridlines. The rail is the baseline: a 7px #2E3238 bar (radius 1), extending 12px past the units on both sides, with a 2px #D6D6D2 lip under it. All rails share the same length so row totals compare by length.

Marks:
- Bar chart: unit bars. Each unit is a 13 x 34 px rounded rectangle (radius 2.5) on a 17px pitch, standing on the rail, with a 10px gap between categories. Filled units carry a small 8 x 3 px white highlight at 45% opacity near the top, like a product label. Highlighted category units are outlined instead of filled.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the four category colors with r 5 square-ish markers (radius 1.5) at each point, the highlighted series dashed 5 4 in #253C78, over a single #2E3238 baseline rail, and a direct label at each line end.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, 3D shelves, perspective, gridlines, and more than four category colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the units per row equal the data, rows never run into the right column, the outlined category is clearly distinguishable in grayscale, and the percentages in the right column are computed from the row totals.
