Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Planner Week" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a crisp weekly planner spread with pastel sticky tabs. Friendly and organized, the kind of page a student keeps on their desk.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Desk behind the page: #F3EFEA. Page: #FFFFFF with a 1px #DAD3CA border, 6px radius and a very soft shadow (blur 5px, 2px down, 12% black).
- Rules: #DAD3CA. Primary text: #45403B. Secondary text: #8A837B. Weekend headers: #B0506A.
- Series pastels in this order: blush #F4B8C1, butter #F6DC8A, sage #B3D3AA, periwinkle #B4C0EE, apricot #F7C29A.
- Each pastel has a dark companion for text on it: #8E3B4A, #7A5C0E, #3E6636, #3C4B8C, #8A4A1E.
- Pastels are close in lightness, so give two series a white texture as secondary encoding: sage gets 45-degree stripes (2.6px white stripes every 8px at 55% opacity) and apricot gets white polka dots (r 1.6, 10px offset grid, 75% opacity). Apply the same texture to their legend tabs.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Outfit 700 for the eyebrow ("WEEK 38", 13px, 3px letter-spacing, #8A837B), the title (30px, stating the finding), day headers (16px caps, 2px letter-spacing), total labels above bars (14px) and tab names (12px caps, 1px letter-spacing).
- Nunito for small labels: subtitle 15px, dates 12px 600, axis numbers 12px 600, segment values 12px 700, tab totals 13px 600, mini calendar 9px, source 12px.

Layout:
- Page from x 36 to 842, y 24 to 576. Eyebrow, title and subtitle top left; a tiny month calendar top right (month name in Outfit 10px caps, weekday initials, 20px columns, 13px rows) with the charted week highlighted as a butter-yellow 12px pill and bold dates.
- A 1px rule under the header, then one column per category separated by 1px vertical rules, with a bold caps header and a small date under each.
- Sticky tabs as the legend: 58px tall rounded tabs (8px radius on the outer corners) sticking out 104px past the page's right edge, tucked under the page, 8px apart, each with the series name in caps and its total in the dark companion color.

Axes and grid:
- Dashed #DAD3CA hour guides (0.8px, 2 on 4 off) at round intervals across all columns, a solid 1.2px baseline, numbers right-aligned left of the first column ("0 h" at the base).

Marks:
- Bar chart: one 64px stacked bar centered in each column, segments in series order from the bottom, only the top segment gets 8px rounded top corners, 1.5px white separators between segments. Segment values centered inside when the segment is at least 18px tall, in the companion color. Totals in Outfit above each bar.
- Line chart: 3px lines in the companion (dark) colors with 6px dots filled in the matching pastel and ringed in the dark tone, one line per series, set against the same day columns; label each line's end with its tab color.

Avoid: saturated colors, heavy black text, 3D, gradients, a boxed legend (the tabs are the legend), and gridlines that are solid.

When you're done, render the chart and check that segment order matches the tab order, textures appear on the same series in bars and tabs, the calendar highlight lines up with the charted week, and totals are arithmetically right.
