Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Planetarium Seats" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a planetarium dome console at night. Deep space blue, a faint dome grid in the corners, one thin glowing violet trace and crisp white rings for special points.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #070B1F (deep space blue).
- Data line: #A78BFA (violet), drawn twice: a 2px violet stroke with glow, then a 1px #DDD3FF core on top. Dots #A78BFA with a 1px canvas-colored ring.
- Highlight rings (e.g. sold out): #FFFFFF.
- Highlighted period band (e.g. the weekend): #1B1F4A at 80% opacity.
- Dome grid: #2A3170 at 40 to 55% opacity. Gridlines: #1A2040; the capacity line #3A3F7A dashed 3 on 4 off.
- Light text: #C9CCF2. Secondary text: #8A8FB8. Title: #FFFFFF. Eyebrow: #A78BFA.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Orbitron for the title (700, 30px, uppercase, 1.5px letter-spacing), day/category labels (600, 13px, 2px letter-spacing) and the band tag (600, 10px, 3px letter-spacing, violet).
- Exo 2 for the eyebrow (600, 12px, uppercase, 3px letter-spacing), subtitle (400, 15px, #8A8FB8), axis labels (12px), annotations (600, 12px, #C9CCF2), legend (13px) and source (12px).

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 66, title at 108, subtitle at 138.
- Plot from x 104 to 880, y 196 to 470. Legend and source on one line at y 540.
- Dome grid: in the top-right and bottom-left corners, concentric circles (radii 90, 150, 210, 270) plus spokes every 15 degrees, centered just off the canvas corner, 1px, clipped to the canvas, with the innermost 80px knocked out.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #1A2040 at quarter steps, labeled with % at the left in 12px #8A8FB8. The 100% line is dashed #3A3F7A and tagged "CAPACITY" at its left end.
- Categories (days) centered below the plot, separated by 30px #1A2040 vertical dividers; highlighted-period labels in white.

Effects:
- Glow filter on the line: Gaussian blur stdDeviation 4, merged twice under the source. Use a canvas-sized filter region (userSpaceOnUse, 0 0 960 600) so the glow never clips.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments, 2px violet with glow and a 1px pale core, a 3.2px dot at every point; points at the maximum get a 7px white ring (1.6px). Label the minimum and the first maximum directly.
- Bar chart: thin 10px violet bars with 2px rounded tops and the same glow at 60% strength, bars at the maximum outlined with a 1.6px white stroke 3px outside; same dome grid, band and capacity line.

Avoid: bright fills, rainbow colors, heavy gridlines, drop shadows, a light background, thick lines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glow is unclipped, rings appear only on true maximums, the band tag and capacity tag do not collide, and the average in the subtitle matches the data.
