Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Piste Map" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the printed piste guide of a ski resort. Crisp snow white paper, an icy plot band, run difficulty colors with their symbols, and a boxed legend like the key on a lift map.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #FBFCFD (snow). Plot band: #E8F1F8 (pale ice blue) with 1.5px #FFFFFF gridlines.
- Series colors by difficulty, each paired with a shape: green #2E9A55 circle (Easy), blue #1F63C4 square (Intermediate), red #D23A33 diamond (Advanced), black #1A1A1A double diamond (Expert). If my data has other categories, map them onto these four in order.
- Text: #1A1A1A for titles and names; #7A8591 for subtitles, axis labels, secondary numbers and divider lines. The eyebrow and its mountain glyph are blue #1F63C4.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Montserrat: title 800, 29px, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding; eyebrow 700, 12px uppercase, 2.2px letter-spacing; category names 700, 13px; legend entries 600, 12px; legend heading 800, 10px uppercase, 2px letter-spacing.
- Inter: subtitle 15px #7A8591; value labels 700, 13px; secondary numbers 400, 12px #7A8591; axis ticks 500, 12px; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow with a small blue two-peak mountain glyph at y 49, title at 92, subtitle at 120.
- Legend box at the top right (x 724 to 904, y 26 to 138): white fill, 1.5px #1A1A1A border, 5px radius, a "PISTES" heading over a 0.8px rule, then one row per difficulty with its 11px symbol, name and count right-aligned in gray.
- The ice band spans from the bar start (x 236) to the right margin, y 150 to 548. Category symbols and names sit to its left.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines. Vertical white gridlines every whole unit inside the band; tick labels below the band in 12px gray, the last with the unit ("6 km").
- Groups are separated by a full-width 1px dashed gray divider (6 on, 5 off) like a piste line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 16px tall on 28px rows, 3px radius on the value end only, colored by group, sorted descending within each group, groups in difficulty order separated by 16px gaps. Each row: symbol (12px) at x 68, bold name at x 88, bar, then "5.8 km" in Inter 700 followed 8px later by a gray secondary measure ("↓ 620 m").
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per difficulty group in its color, with its shape as the point marker (6px) at every point, on the same ice band with vertical white gridlines; label each line at its right end with symbol and name in Montserrat 700 13px. Use the dashed gray piste line for any threshold.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, 3D, color-only encoding (always pair color with the shape), and a legend without the box.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every run carries its difficulty symbol, groups are sorted and separated by dashed dividers, the legend box does not collide with the title, and the longest value label stays inside the canvas.
