Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pick Rates" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a warehouse operations sheet. Clean, blunt and scannable: white paper, safety orange for what happened, pale gray for what was expected, black equipment tags.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Achieved (actual) bars: #F26B1D (safety orange). Also colors percent labels under 90%.
- Target (reference) bars: #D9DADC (pale gray).
- Ink, baseline, ID boxes: #111111. Secondary text: #6C6F75; values in gray bars #55585E.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Ropa Sans throughout (it has one weight; get hierarchy from size and color). Eyebrow 13px uppercase, 2px letter-spacing, #6C6F75, preceded by a 10 x 10 orange square. Title 34px black stating the finding. Subtitle 17px #6C6F75. Legend 15px. Percent labels 17px. Values inside bars 12px. Category IDs 15px white with 1px letter-spacing. Sub-labels 13px. Source 13px.

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 94, subtitle at y 124. Legend (14px squares) right-aligned above the plot at y 152.
- Plot about x 96 to 912, baseline at y 470. Below the baseline, each category gets a 68 x 24 black box with its ID in white, and a gray sub-label (zone, type) under it.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines at all. A thin 0.8px black y axis with 6px outside ticks and 14px gray labels; a 1px black baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped pairs, 34px bars with a 2px gap, square corners, starting at zero: target gray on the left, achieved orange on the right. The target value in 12px #55585E and the achieved value in 12px white sit 18px inside the bar tops. The percent of target (achieved / target, rounded) is printed 10px above the taller bar of each pair, centered on the orange bar, black, or orange when under 90%.
- Line chart: achieved as a 2.5px #F26B1D line with 5px orange square markers and the target as a 2px #D9DADC line (or step line) behind it; percent of target printed above each orange marker; black ID boxes under the x axis.

Avoid: gridlines, rounded bars, gradients, shadows, a second accent color, and truncated axes (bars always start at zero).

When you're done, render the chart and check that every percent is arithmetically right, the title's count matches the bars, percent labels clear both bars in a pair, and the ID boxes are evenly centered under each group.
