Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pick Rate" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the outbound operations board on a warehouse control-room screen. Bright white, safety yellow and black, condensed industrial type, a hard engineered standard to beat and nothing decorative that a floor supervisor would not need.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Ink, header strip and the first series: #111111.
- Safety yellow: #FACC15 (hazard stripes, the second series, header accents, readout numerals).
- Blue: #2563EB (third series).
- Standard or target line: #9CA3AF. Highlighted period band: #FEF9C3.
- Secondary text: #52525B; small caps labels #71717A; gridlines #E4E4E7; light text on the black strip #D4D4D8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Condensed for the title (700, 33px, #111111, sentence case stating the finding, ending at least 40px before the standard readout tag), the header strip (700 and 600, 16px uppercase, 1.5 to 2.5px letter-spacing), series labels (700, 16px uppercase, 1px letter-spacing), band labels and small caps (700, 12 to 13px, 1.5 to 2px letter-spacing).
- Barlow for the subtitle (500, 16px, #52525B), tick labels (500, 13px), values under series labels (600, 13px) and annotation (600, 13px ink plus 12px regular #52525B). Source 12px.

Layout:
- Top edge: a 14px hazard stripe (45-degree diagonal stripes, 14px black and 14px #FACC15 alternating) across the full width, then a 30px #111111 strip holding a yellow board name at left, a white facility line after it and a yellow period tag at right, all in uppercase Barlow Condensed.
- Title at y 96 and subtitle at y 124 with a 48px left margin.
- Top right: a black readout tag 160 x 54 with a 6px #FACC15 left edge, a 12px #D4D4D8 caption ("ENGINEERED STANDARD") and the target as a 28px yellow numeral with a 14px white unit.
- Plot from x 84 to 790; direct series labels in a column just right of the plot. Footer: source at left, a unit key in uppercase condensed at right, and a 6px hazard stripe on the bottom edge.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #E4E4E7 gridlines at round values, labels right-aligned left of the plot. No y-axis line.
- A 2px #111111 baseline with 6px black tick marks under every category and labels 24px below; highlighted-period labels switch to 700 weight in ink. A small "WEEK" axis caption in condensed caps.
- The standard or target as a 5px #9CA3AF dashed line (14 on, 8 off) across the whole plot.
- A highlighted period (e.g. peak season) as a #FEF9C3 band with a 4px hazard stripe cap on top and its uppercase label centered just under the cap.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments, round joins. Series 1: 3px #111111 with solid r 4 dots. Series 2: safety yellow outlined in black, drawn as a 7px #111111 stroke under a 3.5px #FACC15 stroke, with r 4.5 yellow dots with a 1.8px black ring. Series 3: 3px #2563EB with 8px square markers, filled blue when the point meets the standard and white with a 2px blue outline when it falls short (say so in a small annotation).
- Bar chart: square-cornered bars in #111111, #FACC15 with a 1.5px #111111 outline, and #2563EB for up to three groups, about 60% of the band; the standard as the same thick dashed gray line across the bars; bars that miss the standard get a white fill with a colored outline.
- Direct labels at the right: a 14px swatch matching the series treatment, the series name in condensed caps and its latest value in Barlow 13px #52525B below. Include a dashed-gray swatch labeled with the standard.

Labels and annotation:
- One annotation for the key low or high point: a 1px ink leader line and a 13px 600 note, right-aligned.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, shadows, pastel colors other than the band, smoothing the lines, a boxed legend, and more than three series colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the yellow series always has its black outline, the hazard stripes are crisp diagonals, the count in the title matches the data, and the series labels at the right do not collide.
