Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Perfumery" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the sales sheet of a fine fragrance house. Pale cream stationery, delicate gold botanical line drawings in the corners, classical serif type, and bars drawn as slim glass vials filled with translucent tinted liquid.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F8F2E7 (pale cream).
- Ink: #3A2E26 for the title, names and values. Secondary text: #8A7B6C. Glass outline and minor ticks: #CDBFAE.
- Gold: #B39257 for the botanical drawings, the rule under the title, the eyebrow and the stopper caps (cap gradient #E4CE98 to #B39257 to #8C6E3A, top to bottom).
- Liquid colors, one per category group (here the scent pyramid tier): Amber #D9993A (base notes), Rose #C06A7E (heart notes), Sage #3F6E4E (top notes).

Typography (Google Fonts): Cormorant Garamond throughout, with lining figures (font-variant-numeric: lining-nums).
- Eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 5px letter-spacing in gold, centered.
- Title 36px 500, centered, stating the finding.
- Subtitle 18px italic in #8A7B6C, centered, with measure, unit and period.
- Category names 19px 600 right-aligned, each with a second line in 13.5px italic #8A7B6C (here the key notes).
- Values 16px 700; axis numbers 14px 500; key labels 15px 600 with 13px italic sublabels; source 14px italic, centered.

Layout:
- Centered title block; under the title a 160px 0.8px gold rule with a small gold diamond (3.5px half-diagonal) at its center.
- Botanical sprigs in all four corners: a thin gold curving stem with five almond-shaped leaves (each with a hairline midrib), a small bud circle at the tip, 75% opacity, about 120px long, mirrored on the right side.
- Rows 42px apart; category labels end at x 290; vials run from about x 318 to 806.
- A scent pyramid key at the right: a small triangle split into three tiers colored by the liquid colors (70% opacity, 1.5px cream gaps), captioned "SCENT PYRAMID" in tracked gold caps, with three swatch rows below it.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines and no y-axis. Under the last vial, a graduation scale like a measuring cylinder: a 0.8px #CDBFAE line, 7px ticks at major values (with numbers) and 4px ticks halfway between.

Marks:
- Bar chart: every vial is a full-length glass tube 18px tall with a square left end and a round right end, filled with a vertical glass gradient (white 90% at the top, #F3ECE2 60% in the middle, #E9DFD2 80% at the bottom) and a 0.9px #CDBFAE outline. A faceted gold stopper sits on the left. The liquid fills from the left to the value, inset 2px from the glass, with a vertical gradient of the tier color (45% opacity at the top to 90% at the bottom) and a 2px darker surface line at its end. Two white highlight streaks run along the glass (1.6px near the top, 0.8px short near the bottom). The value sits 8px after the liquid, inside the empty glass.
- Line chart: the same page and type; draw each series as a 2.5px smooth line in its liquid color with a soft 18%-opacity tinted area beneath, and small round glass beads (5px radius, white glass gradient with a colored core) at each point; label the lines at their right ends in 16px Cormorant Garamond 700.

Avoid: saturated colors, heavy outlines, drop shadows under the vials, sans-serif type, dense gridlines and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every liquid length matches its value on the graduation scale, the three liquid colors stay distinguishable, the value labels sit inside the empty glass, and the corner botanicals never touch the title or data.
