Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Payload Manifest" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an official launch manifest sheet from an aerospace operator. White paper, thin black ruling, a header table of mission fields, technical sans headings and monospaced numbers. Everything is gray and black except the one record that matters, in red-orange.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Paper: #FFFFFF. Ink and ruling: #111111.
- Accent: #E0452B (red-orange), only for the single highlighted mark (the maximum or the item the title is about), its icon, its category and table entries, and the second word of the sheet's title block.
- Ordinary data marks: #9AA4AE (cool gray). Gridlines: #D5D8DC. Secondary text and field labels: #5E656C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Oxanium for headings and labels: title block words 20px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing ("PAYLOAD" white, "MANIFEST" red-orange, stacked); chart title 27px 700 stating the finding; subtitle 14.5px 400 #5E656C with measure, unit and a total; field and row labels 10px 600 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing in #5E656C; the threshold label 11px 700 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; document code 10.5px 600 uppercase.
- IBM Plex Mono for every number and code: header field values 14.5px 500; tick labels 12px 400 #5E656C; value labels 12.5px 600; category codes 12.5px 600 ink; secondary table row 12.5px 400 #5E656C; source 11.5px.

Layout:
- 40px side margins. At the top a full-width header table 68px tall with a 1.2px ink outline: a 210px solid #111111 title block on the left, then cells separated by 0.8px ink rules, each with a small caps field label 24px from the top and a mono value 50px from the top (for example OPERATOR, VEHICLE, PERIOD, FLIGHTS, CAPACITY).
- Chart title baseline about 140, subtitle about 164.
- A row of icons above the plot, then the plot, then a ruled data table under the x axis with one row per attribute (FLIGHT codes, then ORBIT or another category), each 26px tall, with row labels at the left margin.
- A 0.6px ink footer rule with the source (mono) at left and a document code ("DOC CLS-MAN-2031 SHEET 1 OF 1") at right.

Axes and grid:
- 0.8px #D5D8DC horizontal gridlines at round values; the zero line is a 1.2px ink rule that doubles as the top of the data table. Y tick labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, and the unit ("t") at the left margin level with the top tick.
- The data table under the axis has 0.6px ink vertical dividers at every category boundary and a 0.6px rule between rows, with the last row closed by a 1.2px rule spanning from the left margin.

Marks:
- Bar chart: square-cornered bars 44px wide (about 65% of the band) in #9AA4AE, the highlighted bar solid #E0452B. Value labels sit inside the top of each bar, 18px below the bar top, in mono 600: ink on gray bars, white on the red-orange bar.
- Above each bar, in a fixed row about 12px above the plot top, a slim rocket silhouette outline (10px wide body, 40px tall: ogive nose, straight body, small flared fins) with a 1.1px ink stroke and white fill, a 0.9px band line where the nose meets the body. The highlighted item's rocket is filled solid red-orange with a white band line.
- Line chart: a 2px ink line with square 7px gray (#9AA4AE) markers at each point with a 1.1px ink outline; the highlighted point is a 9px red-orange square. Value labels in mono above the points, the same rocket icon row above the plot, and the same ruled data table under the axis.
- Threshold (capacity, limit): a 1.3px ink dashed line (7 on, 4 off) across the plot with a white knockout behind the left-aligned label "VEHICLE CAPACITY 18.5 t".

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, shadows, more than one red-orange mark, colored backgrounds (other than the black title block), and a legend (the table and labels do that job).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the header table values fit their cells, the percentage in the title is right for the data, the rocket row lines up with the bar centers, and no value label touches the threshold line.
