Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Soft Pastel" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a friendly modern product dashboard. Soft, rounded, calm, highly legible.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page behind the card: #F4F1EC. Card: #FFFFFF with a 24px corner radius and a soft shadow (0 10px 32px, #1F2937 at 8% opacity).
- Title #1F2937, subtitle and category labels #6B7280, legend text #374151, value labels #4B5563, axis labels and source #9CA3AF.
- Gridlines: #E5E7EB dashed (4px dash, 6px gap). Baseline: #E5E7EB at 1.5px.
- Series, in this fixed order: #7C8CF8 (periwinkle), #F28DB2 (rose), #F0B94A (butter). A fourth: #5CC8A8 (mint). Never cycle.

Typography (Google Fonts): DM Sans only.
- Title 27px 700. Subtitle 16px 400. Legend 14px 500. Axis labels 14px 400. Category labels 15px 500. Value labels 12px 600. Source 12px 400.

Layout:
- The card is inset 24px from the chart edges; content has 40px padding inside the card.
- Title and subtitle top left. The legend sits top right as pill chips: #F5F6F8 background, 32px tall, fully rounded, a 5.5px color dot, then the series name.
- Source line at the bottom left of the card.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal dashed gridlines only, no axis lines except the soft baseline.
- Compact y labels (0, 500, 1k, 1.5k, 2k), right-aligned, 20px left of the plot.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped bars 40px wide with 8px between bars in a group. Round only the top corners (12px radius); the bottom stays square on the baseline. Put the value above every bar because the pastel fills are low-contrast on white.
- Line chart: 3px smooth (monotone) lines with round caps, a soft area fill under the first series only (its color at 12% opacity fading to 0), and 5px dots with a 2px white ring at each point. Label the last value of each line.

Avoid: saturated colors, black text, hard shadows, square corners, borders around the plot.

When you're done, render the chart and check that value labels never collide and that the legend chips match the series order.
