Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Passenger Throughput" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an airport departures board turned into an annual traffic chart. Deep navy, split-flap tiles spelling each period across the top, three bright terminal colors and a crisp white prior-year reference.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B1733 (deep navy).
- Series: #38BDF8 (sky) for the first, #FBBF24 (amber) for the second, #F472B6 (pink) for the third. Amber also marks the year on the board.
- Prior-year reference and main text: #FFFFFF. Subtitle and footer totals #C9D3E6, axis text #8593B0.
- Board strip #13234D with a 1px #1A2A4F border; flap tiles #050B1C with a 1.2px #0B1733 split line across the middle. Gridlines #1A2A4F, baseline #3A4B72.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Saira throughout. Title 700 27px white, stating the finding with the annual total and growth computed from the data. Subtitle 400 15px #C9D3E6. Legend 600 12px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing. Flap tile text 600 15px white with 1.5px letter-spacing; the board's year 700 13px amber. Axis numbers 400 12px ("1.0M"). Column totals 600 12.5px white. Footer 12px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Title baseline 56px, subtitle 84px, legend row at 119px: 12px squares with 1.5px radius for each series, then a small white step glyph for the prior year.
- The departures board strip sits directly above the plot (y 140 to 180, full plot width, 3px radius). The year sits at its left in amber; one 44 x 28 px tile per column, centered on its bar, spells the period ("JAN") like a split-flap display. The board replaces bottom category labels.
- Plot from x 104 to 904, top 206, baseline 514. Column totals in millions sit 22px under the baseline, with a small "TOTAL M" caption in the left gutter.
- Footer at 574px: source left, a year-over-year summary right ("2024: 26.9M | 2025: 28.8M").

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #1A2A4F gridlines at round millions, the zero line #3A4B72. No vertical gridlines, no axis lines.

Marks:
- Bar chart (stacked): square-cornered columns 62% of the slot, series stacked bottom to top in sky, amber, pink, with a 1.5px gap between segments. The prior-year total is a thin 1.5px white step line: flat across each column's slot (inset 4px), stepping at slot edges, drawn over a 4px navy halo at 60% opacity so it reads on top of the colors.
- Line chart: three 2.5px lines in sky, amber and pink with small matching dots, the prior-year total as a 1.5px white step line, and the board tiles still marking each period.

Avoid: gradients, rounded bar tops, shadows, 3D flaps, more than three series colors, and labels inside the stacked segments.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title total and growth match the data, each flap tile is centered over its column, the step line is visible over every column, and the title fits within the right margin.
