Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pass Monitor" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the kitchen display screen above the pass during dinner service. Pure black, tiled, loud where it matters and quiet everywhere else. Readable from across a hot kitchen.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Screen: #000000. Tile borders: #3A3F45 (2px). Header bars: #23262B. Faint gridlines: #1C1F23.
- Series: #FFD60A (yellow), #22D3EE (cyan), #FB8500 (orange).
- Alert: #EF233C (red) for the limit line, flash markers and any over-limit number.
- Primary text: #FFFFFF. Secondary text: #8D949C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Semi Condensed throughout: screen header name 21px 700 uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing; tile headers 16px 700 uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing; the title 27px 700 white stating the finding; subtitle 15px 500 #8D949C; axis labels 14px 600 #8D949C; legend and chip text 13px 700 uppercase; big tile numbers 64px 700; tile stats 15px 600 to 700 uppercase.

Layout:
- A 46px screen header bar across the top with the venue name, a gray context label, the wall clock in 19px 700 white and a clock chip (black, 1px #3A3F45 border, rx 4) reading "SERVICE 6:00:00".
- A main tile on the left (about 75% width) with its own 32px header bar holding the chart name and an inline legend (18 x 3 px color swatch plus the series name in its color). Title and subtitle sit inside the tile under the header bar.
- A right column of stacked tiles, one per series: header bar with a 5px color strip, the series name and a "PEAK 19:40" note; a 64px peak value in the series color (red if over the limit) with "peak open" beside it; an average and a minutes-over-limit count (red) or "NEVER OVER 8" (gray).
- "Source: illustrative data" 12px at the bottom left of the main tile.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #1C1F23 horizontal gridlines every 2 units and vertical ones every hour; a #3A3F45 baseline. Labels in #8D949C.
- The limit is a 1.2px #EF233C dashed line (6 on, 4 off) labeled "LIMIT 8" in 12px 700 red above its right end.

Marks:
- Line chart: thin 2.2px straight-segment lines with round joins, no dots. Wherever a series passes the limit, shade that time span as a full-height #EF233C band at 16% opacity with a 3px solid red cap at the top, and mark the peak with a 4px red dot inside a 9px red ring plus a solid red label chip (rx 3, 22px tall) reading "GRILL 10 · 19:40" in 13px 700 white.
- Bar chart: slim square-cornered bars in the series colors on black, grouped per period with 2px black gaps; any bar over the limit gets a red outline, a red cap and the same red label chip; the limit line and tiles stay the same.

Avoid: glows, gradients, rounded tiles, soft shadows, thick lines, and more than one alert color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every over-limit span has a band, marker and chip, chips don't collide with each other or the lines' peaks, the tile numbers match the data, and nothing touches the tile borders.
