Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Partnership Bars" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the partnerships panel of a Test match scorecard in a members' pavilion programme. Deep green-black, small-caps serif headings, ivory and pale gold bars and a fine double frame. Old-club dignity with modern clarity.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0D1F16 (pavilion green-black).
- Left part of each split: #EFE6D2 (ivory). Right part: #CFB36A (pale gold). Gold also for the header line, the highlighted row's label and total, and the frame.
- Primary text #F3EAD3 (cream), secondary text #8FA396, row rules #23392C.
- Frame: two inset rectangles, 1px #CFB36A at 35% opacity 24px from the edge and 0.6px at 20% opacity 28px from the edge. Highlighted row band: #CFB36A at 9% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant SC for the header line (600 16px gold, 1.6px letter-spacing, centered), the title (700 31px cream, centered, stating the finding with its numbers) and row labels ("1st" to "10th", 700 17px cream, gold for the highlight) and the "Total" label.
- Mulish with tabular figures for everything else: subtitle 15px #8FA396 centered; column heads 800 10px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing (the two split heads in ivory and gold, the rest #8FA396); names 400 13px cream with the runs in 800 in the matching bar color next to them; stand totals 800 15px cream (17px gold on the highlight row); balls 14px #8FA396; source and notes 12px.

Layout:
- Everything centered inside the frame. Header line, title, subtitle, then a table-like chart from x 56 to x 904 with column heads and a 0.8px gold rule at 50% opacity beneath them.
- Rows 33px apart separated by 0.8px #23392C rules. Row label at the far left, a vertical 1px cream spine (60% opacity) a little left of centre (x 440), numeric columns right-aligned at x 800 (total) and x 880 (balls).
- A totals row under a gold rule: the label, a short breakdown ("438 off the bat + 18 extras") and the grand totals. Footer: source at left and a definition of the last column at right.

Axes and grid:
- No axes or gridlines; the central spine is the only zero line and both halves share one scale (2.5px per unit here). Row rules replace gridlines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: split horizontal bars 17px tall with square ends, the left part growing leftward from the spine in ivory and the right part growing rightward in pale gold, butted against the spine. Each part is labeled at its outer end, 8px away: "Name 34" on the left (name then bold number) and "22 Name" on the right (bold number then name). Highlight the most important row with the gold band.
- Line chart: two lines, ivory 2.5px and pale gold 2.5px dashed 6 on 3 off, with small square markers, on the same framed dark page with row-style horizontal rules, direct end labels in the same name-and-number form and a gold-banded highlight period.

Avoid: rounded bar ends, gradients, shadows, bright greens, a legend box (the column heads name the two parts), and a second y axis.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each total equals its two parts, the grand total equals the sum of rows plus any extras, the title's numbers match the data, the longest labels stay inside the frame, and ivory and gold remain distinguishable at thumbnail size.
