Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Parameter Sweep" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the results figure of a simulation study. Calm, technical and quantitative: one thin line per run colored along a perceptual ramp, a proper colorbar, and a settings box that documents the model.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1C1E22 (graphite).
- Ten-step ramp from low to high parameter value: #6A3A9A, #5E4BA8, #4B62AE, #3B79AF, #2E8FA9, #27A39B, #3DB685, #72C666, #AED545, #F2E43A. For fewer runs, sample it evenly; for more, interpolate between neighbours.
- Title #ECEEF1, tick labels and axis titles #9AA1AB, footer and minor ticks #6B727C, gridlines #2C2F35.
- Inset box: fill #22252A, 1px #3A3E46 border, 4px radius.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Figtree for the title (700, 26px, stating the finding), subtitle (400, 15.5px, measure, unit and what was swept), axis titles (14px) and the colorbar title (600, 13px).
- JetBrains Mono for all numbers: tick labels 12px, colorbar labels 11.5px, inset text 11px, callout values 500 12px, footer 11px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin for the title; plot area from about x 92 to 790 and y 132 to 470.
- A stepped colorbar 16px wide at x 846 spanning the plot's full height, one block per swept value, lowest at the bottom, a 0.8px #6B727C outline, 4px ticks at block centers with labels to the right, and the parameter name with unit rotated on its left.
- A model-settings inset in the upper right of the plot (about 214 x 108px): an uppercase "MODEL SETTINGS" header in 500 10.5px #6B727C with 1.4px letter-spacing, then key/value rows (keys left in #9AA1AB, values right in #ECEEF1).
- Footer: source at left in Figtree 12px, sweep definition at right in mono.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #2C2F35 gridlines only, a 1px #6B727C baseline with 5px ticks, y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, rotated y axis title.

Marks:
- Line chart: 1.8px lines with round caps, smooth monotone curves, no markers, drawn from low to high parameter so the bright end sits on top. One dotted readout guide (0.8px #ECEEF1 at 60% opacity, 2 on 3 off) at a meaningful x value, with hollow r 3.5 circles (graphite fill, 1.6px stroke in the run's color) on the extreme runs and their values in the run's color (lighten the darkest purple to #B89AE0 for text).
- Bar chart: grouped bars with one bar per swept value, each in its ramp color, 2px gaps inside a group and square corners, no outlines, the same colorbar in place of a legend and the same inset box; value labels only on the extreme bars.

Avoid: rainbow or jet colormaps, a categorical legend for a continuous parameter, markers on dense lines, thick lines, glow effects, and gridlines on both axes.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the ramp increases monotonically in lightness with the parameter, the colorbar blocks line up with their tick labels, the inset covers no data, and the callout numbers match the plotted values.
