Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pan Grid" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a glossy black eyeshadow compact opened on a vanity. Each column is built from round pressed-powder pans, so the chart reads as product first, data second, and stays exact.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0A0A0A. Compact: x 20, y 20, 920 x 560, 28px radius, fill #111112, 1px #2A2A2C stroke, and a diagonal gloss overlay (white 10% at the top-left fading to 2% by 35%, then a hard cut to 0 and 3% at the bottom right).
- Category colors: nude #D7A78C, rose #C45B72, bronze #A86B3C, plum #6A3A5C, smoke #6E6E73.
- Text: title #FFFFFF, labels #E8E6EA, secondary #8C8A8F, source #6F6D72.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Unbounded: title 28px 600 white with -0.5px letter-spacing; totals above columns 20px 300 (thin) white.
- Mulish: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase, 3px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px; category labels 13px 800 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing; key and footer 12 to 13px.

Layout:
- Eyebrow y 70, title y 112, subtitle y 142 at x 64. A unit key right-aligned on the subtitle line: one gray pan and "= 1,000 palettes".
- Plot from x 64 to 896 with the baseline at y 500 (1px white 18%). Category label 30px under the baseline with a 28 x 3 px rounded swatch below it. Source and total at y 566.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis and no gridlines: the pan count is the scale. Totals label each column instead.

Marks:
- Bar chart (unit chart): columns two pans wide, r 12.5 pans on a 30px pitch, filled bottom-up. Each pan: solid category fill, a radial sheen (white 28% at 35%/30%, clear by 60%, black 25% at the rim) and a 1.4px metallic rim stroke (diagonal gradient #F2F2F2 85% to #6B6B6B 50% to #D0D0D0 75%). The remainder is a partial pan: a dashed 1px white 22% outline with the fill clipped from the bottom to the fractional height.
- Line chart: draw each series as a 2px line in its category color with a pan (r 9, same sheen and rim) at every point, and the thin Unbounded value at the last point; keep the compact frame and gloss.

Avoid: flat circles without rim or sheen, gridlines, bright white fills, more than five families, rounding away the remainder.

When you're done, render the chart and check that pan counts match the values (one per unit plus a partial), rims read at thumbnail size, and totals sit clear above the tallest pan in each column.
