Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Pack Weight" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a sustainability brief from a household-goods brand. Deep forest green page, kraft-paper bars, bold geometric title and the savings shouting in bright green.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #132218 (dark forest green). Title and category names: #F1EBDD. Secondary text: #93A898. Gridlines: #22362A; baseline #3E5A47. Footer text: #6F8674.
- Series: current/before #C2A574 (pale kraft), redesign/after #EADBB8 (lighter kraft). Savings and highlights: #5BE37D (bright green).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Unbounded 600 for the title, 28px, #F1EBDD, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding.
- Epilogue for everything else: subtitle 14px 400 #93A898 (measure, unit, comparison, total saved); legend 13px 500; axis title 11px 600 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; axis labels 12px; in-bar values 12px 600 in #132218; savings labels 16px 700 #5BE37D; category name 13px 500 with a second line 12px #93A898.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Title baseline at 64, subtitle at 94.
- Axis title row at y 128: a small line-drawn weighing-scale icon (dish, stem, trapezoid base, round dial; 1.4px #93A898 strokes, about 18 x 18 px) then "GRAMS PER PACK". Legend with 14px swatches (2px radius) right-aligned on the same row.
- Plot from x 104 to 904, baseline at y 488.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #22362A, the zero line #3E5A47. Y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No vertical axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: paired vertical bars 42px wide with a 6px gap, top corners rounded 3px, before in #C2A574 and after in #EADBB8, starting at zero. Values print inside each bar 18px below its top in #132218. Above each pair, 16px over the taller bar, a small solid #5BE37D down-pointing triangle (10 x 7 px, drawn as a shape) and the grams saved ("55 g").
- Line chart: before as a 2.5px #C2A574 line and after as a 2.5px #EADBB8 line with 5px dots, the gap between them filled with #5BE37D at 12% opacity, and the saving printed in bright green above each x position.

Labels and annotation:
- Footer at y 580: "Source: ..." left and "Green figures show grams saved per pack" right.

Avoid: a second accent color, gradients, glows, 3D bars, dual axes, and text arrows (draw the triangle as a shape).

When you're done, render the chart and check that every savings figure equals before minus after, the title percentage is computed from the totals, the in-bar values are readable on the lighter bars, and the triangle and number read as one centered unit over each pair.
