Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Overtime Hours" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a factory time clock after a long shift. Warm charcoal, a punch-card header strip with a rubber date stamp, condensed uppercase headlines and one hot orange line that reads like a warning light.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #1C1917 (charcoal). Header strip #292524; strip ticks #57534E; gridlines #34302D.
- Text: #F5F5F4 for titles and key labels, #A8A29E for secondary text and axes.
- Data: #F97316 (orange) for the line, the area and the date stamp. #DC2626 (red) for markers flagging values over a limit.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Condensed 700 for the title (40px, uppercase, 0.4px letter-spacing, #F5F5F4, stating the finding) and the peak callout (20px uppercase).
- Space Mono for everything else: strip label 700 12px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing in #A8A29E; subtitle 400 12.5px #A8A29E; axis labels 400 11px; the cap label 700 11.5px; the stamp text 700 12.5px orange; footer 11px.

Layout:
- 40px side margins. A header strip (x 40 to 920, y 26 to 70, 4px radius, #292524) with a punch-card barcode of 2.2px #57534E ticks every 6px on its left (every third tick taller), the source label in the middle, and on the right an ink stamp: two nested orange rectangles (2px and 0.8px strokes, 3px radius) rotated -3 degrees around the stamped period ("WK 27-52 2025").
- Title at y 126, subtitle at y 154. Plot from x 88 to 888, y 200 to 496. A 1px #34302D footer rule at y 546 with the source left and a "PUNCHED" timestamp right in #57534E.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #34302D horizontal gridlines every 2 units, labels like "6h" right-aligned 18px left of the plot. A 1px #A8A29E baseline with 4px minor ticks for every period and 8px major ticks labeled every fourth period ("WK31").
- Policy limit: a 1.5px #F5F5F4 dashed line (8 on, 6 off) at the limit value, with a charcoal knockout behind "POLICY CAP 6.0H" at its left end.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 4.5px #F97316 line with round joins and straight segments over an area filled with a vertical orange gradient from 34% to 4% opacity. Every value over the limit gets an 11px #DC2626 square with a 2px charcoal outline. The peak gets a condensed "PEAK 8.3H" callout with a small mono period label above it. A small red-square legend "Week over the cap" in the upper right of the plot.
- Bar chart: columns in #F97316 at 85% opacity with square corners, 60% of the band; columns over the limit in solid #DC2626 with a 2px orange cap on top; the same dashed white limit line and label.

Avoid: cool colors, rounded friendly fonts, glows, drop shadows, and more than two data colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the count of over-limit markers matches the number in the title, the stamp does not cover the strip label, and the cap label's knockout hides the dashed line cleanly.
