Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Oscilloscope" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a modern benchtop digital oscilloscope. A dark phosphor screen with a dotted graticule, bright glowing channel traces, crisp mono readouts and a measurement panel beside it. Technical and alive.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Bezel (canvas): #15191A. Screen and measurement panel: #07100D with a subtle radial lift to #0E1D17 at the center of the screen, 2px #2B3230 border, 10px radius.
- Graticule: #3A4D44.
- Channel 1: #F5E04A (yellow). Channel 2: #3FD6E8 (cyan). Trigger markers and trigger readout: #FF8A3D.
- Readout text #C9D6CF, dim labels #7F9189, title #EEF2EF, subtitle #8C9A93. Bezel keys #20262A with a 1px #343C40 border.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Share Tech Mono for everything on the screen and panel: status line 14px, channel badges 14px, measurement keys 15px #7F9189, measurement values 20px in the channel color.
- Rubik for the bezel: title 600, 23px at x 36, baseline 42, stating the finding; subtitle 400, 14px, baseline 68; panel caption "MEASUREMENTS" 500, 12px with 2px letter-spacing; key labels 500, 12px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing; footer 12px #6F7C76.

Layout:
- Screen at x 28 to 624, y 84 to 592. Inside, a status line at baseline 111 (a green #2F7D4F "RUN" chip, "Trig'd", the time base centered, the sample rate right aligned), the graticule, then the channel badges at y 560.
- Graticule: exactly 10 x 8 divisions of 54px from x 56, y 124.
- Measurement panel at x 648 to 932, y 84 to 420; four bezel keys (138 x 34px, 6px radius) below it in a 2 x 2 grid; source and a device note at the bottom of the bezel.

Axes and grid:
- Interior division lines are dotted: 1px #3A4D44, dash 1.2 9.6 with round caps, so dots fall on every minor tick. The center cross is solid 1px with 8px minor ticks every fifth of a division. The outer frame is 1.4px #3A4D44.
- No numeric axis labels on the graticule: scales live in the channel badges ("CH1 500mV" style: a 40px filled chip with the channel name in #07100D, then the per-division value in the channel color, inside a 112 x 22px outlined box).

Marks:
- Line chart: each series is a 2px trace in its channel color with round joins and a phosphor glow (Gaussian blur 3.2, merged twice under the sharp line). Each channel has its own zero level, marked on the left edge by a small flag in the channel color with its number in #07100D. The trigger level is an orange triangle on the right edge and the trigger position an orange triangle at the top center.
- Bar chart: draw bars as glowing 2px outlines in the channel color with a 12% fill of the same color, square corners, about 40% of a division wide, rising from the channel's zero flag, with the same glow.

Labels and annotation:
- Measurement panel: a filled channel chip (46 x 20px, 3px radius) and a 1px graticule-colored rule, then rows of key on the left and value right aligned. Compute every value (frequency, peak-to-peak, RMS, crest factor) from the data.

Avoid: axis numbers on the grid, legends (the badges are the legend), light backgrounds, thick lines, and glows that clip at the screen edge.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the graticule is exactly 10 by 8, both traces glow without clipping, the badge scales match how the data is drawn, and the measurement values are arithmetically right.
