Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Origin Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a page from a responsible sourcing report. Warm, literate and restrained: thin commodity-colored lines on pale linen, a solid target line at the top, and small boxed ticks that show where independent audits happened.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F5F1EA (pale linen).
- Series, in this order: #4A2C1D (coffee brown), #2E6B45 (palm green), #C8783A (cocoa), #8E9AA6 (cotton gray). For label text on the lighter two use darker steps: #A85F28 for cocoa and #66717C for cotton.
- Target line and headline ink: #2A2622. Secondary text #6F675D. Gridlines and rules #DDD5C8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Lora for the title (600, 27px, #2A2622, stating the finding) and one italic annotation (400 italic, 13px).
- Nunito Sans for everything else: eyebrow 11.5px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in #6F675D; subtitle 15.5px 400 #6F675D; axis labels 12 to 13px; direct labels 14px 800 value plus 13.5px 600 name in the series color; target label 10.5px 800 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 56px side margins; eyebrow at y 54, title at y 94, subtitle at y 124, a one-line audit key under the subtitle.
- Plot from x 76 to 786 and y 178 to 492; the right 110px holds direct end labels.
- Footer rule at y 548 and a 12px source line below it.

Axes and grid:
- Y from 0 to 100 with labels at 0, 25, 50, 75 in 12px gray, and 1px #DDD5C8 gridlines. No y axis line.
- The target of 100 is a solid 1.6px #2A2622 line across the plot, its tick label bold, with "TARGET: FULL TRACEABILITY" just above it at the left.
- X axis: a 1px gray baseline, year labels centered under each year's four quarters, with 6px ticks between years.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2px straight-segment lines with round joins, no markers except a 3.2px end dot and audit boxes. Audit box: an 11px square with a linen fill and a 1.4px stroke in the series color, containing a small check mark (1.3px stroke) drawn as a path.
- Bar chart: slim grouped bars (about 10px each, 2px gaps) in the same four colors with square corners, the 100 target as the same solid line across the plot, and the audit box sitting on top of the bar for audited periods.
- End labels: value then name, nudged apart to at least 20px with a 1px leader in the series color when moved.

Labels and annotation:
- At most one italic Lora note, with a 7px open circle around the event and a thin angled leader to the text.

Avoid: thick lines, area fills, gradients, a legend box (use direct labels), bright saturated colors, and dual axes.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the four colors stay distinct where lines cross, every audit box is readable at thumbnail size, the end labels do not overlap each other or the target line, and the title's claim matches the data.
