Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Olive Grove" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a harvest report from an old cooperative mill at dusk. Deep olive darkness, a warm golden line of oil, silvery leaves and a soft green band for what is normal.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Ground: #151A0F (olive black) with a gentle radial lift to #1D2414 in the upper center.
- Primary series: #E0AE3E (oil gold). Secondary series: #A9B8A0 (silver sage). Typical-range band: #5E7444 at 42% opacity.
- Text: #ECE6CF (cream). Secondary text: #949A83. Gridlines and footer rule: #2C3322.
- Harvest wash: #E0AE3E at 7% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant 600 for the title (30px #ECE6CF, sentence case, stating the finding, lining figures) and Cormorant 600 italic 18px for the annotation headline.
- Lato for everything else: header eyebrow in gold small caps (capitals 13px, lowercase as 10.5px capitals) 700 with 2.4px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px #949A83; legend 14px (primary 700 cream, secondary in sage); axis labels 13 to 14px; peak label 13px 700 gold; annotation detail 12px #949A83; "HARVEST MONTHS" 11px 700 gold with 2.4px letter-spacing at 80%; source 12px italic.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow at y 56, title y 100, subtitle y 130, legend row y 166 (line swatches 28px long plus a 28 x 14 band swatch), plot about x 88 to 900, y 200 to 486, footer rule y 546 and footer text y 572.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #2C3322; y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot.
- A 1px #949A83 baseline. Month boundaries marked with small leaf-shaped ticks hanging below the baseline: a pointed 12px tall, 6px wide leaf filled #5E7444 with a 0.8px sage outline and a 0.6px sage midrib. Month names centered between ticks in cream.
- The harvest months get a full-height gold wash with a small "HARVEST MONTHS" label near the top.

Marks:
- Line chart: the typical range is a smooth translucent band between the prior seasons' minimum and maximum. The primary series is a smooth 3.2px gold line with round caps plus a soft glow (the same path at 7px, 35% opacity, blurred 3.5). The comparison series is a thinner 1.8px sage line dashed 6 on 4 off. The peak gets a 4.5px ring (ground fill, 2px gold stroke) and a gold label. One annotation: a 3px cream dot on the line, a 0.8px cream hairline leader going straight up then left, and a two-line note (italic serif headline, small sans detail) right-aligned to the leader.
- Bar chart: slim gold bars (60% of the band, 3px top radius) for the current period with the typical range drawn behind each as a wider #5E7444 range bar at 42% opacity, and the comparison period as a sage tick across each bar (2px, dashed look via two short segments). Harvest months get the same gold wash, and the axis keeps the leaf ticks.

Avoid: bright greens, pure black, thick gridlines, glowing everything (only the primary line glows), and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the band sits behind both lines, the dashed series is still readable against it, the annotation leader points exactly at its date, the title's claim (for example "above the range") is true in the data, and the glow is not clipped.
