Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Nursery Tag" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the chart is printed on a tall white plant tag hanging from twine at a garden center. Friendly, fresh and tidy, like good retail packaging for a single plant.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page behind the tag: #DCE3DA (pale gray-green).
- Tag: #FFFFFF with a soft drop shadow (#1D2A20 at 16% opacity, Gaussian blur 6, offset 4px right and 7px down).
- Data and accents: #2D6A3E (deep green) for the line, dots, eyebrow, headline number and care icons.
- Ink: #1D2A20. Secondary text: #66736A. Gridlines and hole ring: #E3E8E2. Highlight band: #EAF2EC. Twine: #B89B6A and #A88A5A. Faint lot number: #9AA69D.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Young Serif 400 for the plant or subject name header (40px, #1D2A20) and the headline number at the top right (34px, green, for example "+121 cm").
- DM Sans for everything else: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in green; subtitle 15px #66736A; the note under the headline number 14px 500, right-aligned; axis labels 12.5px #66736A; end value label 14px 700 green; care strip headings 14px 700 #1D2A20 with 12.5px detail lines; lot number 10px 500 with 2px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- The tag spans x 196 to 764 and y 20 to 584, rotated -1.2 degrees about its center. Top corners are rounded with a 70px radius; the straight sides end at y 528 and taper to a subtle point at the bottom center (y 584).
- A punched hole 36px below the tag top: a 10px circle filled with the page color inside a 3px #E3E8E2 reinforcement ring (r 15). Twine loops through it and runs off the top edge.
- Inside the tag, 40px padding: eyebrow at y 104, name at y 146, subtitle at y 172, headline number and its note aligned right on the same baselines.
- Plot from about y 204 to 424. A care strip below a 1.5px #E3E8E2 rule at y 452: three equal columns, each a 2px green line icon (sun with 8 rays, water drop with a highlight arc, double-headed spacing arrow between two stops) followed by a bold heading and a detail line. A small lot number near the tag foot.
- "Source: illustrative data" sits on the page at the bottom left, outside the tag.

Axes and grid:
- Three horizontal 1px #E3E8E2 gridlines, a #B9C4BC baseline, y labels right-aligned with the unit ("cm") above them, zero label omitted. X labels every other step under the plot. No axis lines.
- Shade the single most important interval (for example the best week) as a #EAF2EC band with a 10.5px 700 uppercase green label at its top.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 3px #2D6A3E smooth monotone line with a 7% green area fill down to the baseline. Filled green dots (r 4.5) with a 2px white ring at each point; the last point larger (r 6.5). The final value labeled above and left of the last point.
- Bar chart: rounded-top green bars (radius 4, about 55% of the band) on the white tag, with the best bar in the highlight band and value labels in 12.5px 700 green above each bar.

Avoid: filling the whole canvas with the chart (the tag shape must stay visible), dark backgrounds, drop shadows on data, extra colors, heavy borders and cluttered icons.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the tag reads as a tag (rounded top, hole, pointed foot, twine), no label touches the line, and the headline number equals the last value minus the first.
