Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Nordic" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: Scandinavian calm. Muted earth tones on warm off-white, lots of air, soft rounded shapes and quiet, understated type.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Paper: #F5F1EA. No card, no border.
- Oat: #E9E1D3 (tracks, the "remainder" or background series). Sage: #8A9A80 (main series). Clay: #B06A4E (the maximum or the one highlighted item). Slate: #4A5560 (the minimum or a contrasting item).
- Text: #2F3438 (title, highlighted labels), #8C8A84 (subtitle, axes, legend, source), #6F6D68 (value labels).
- Rules: #D9D3C8 at 0.75px; baseline #BFB8AC at 1px.
- Additional series, in order: #8A9A80, #B06A4E, #4A5560, #C9A66B.

Typography (Google Fonts): Albert Sans.
- Title 30px 400, letter-spacing -0.3px. Subtitle 17px 300. Legend 14px 400. Axis labels 13px 400. Value labels 13px 400 (600 and in the bar color for highlighted items). Category labels 14px 400. Annotations 12px 500 lowercase in the highlight color. Source 12.5px 300 under a short 32px #D9D3C8 rule.

Layout:
- 72px left margin, title at the top left, subtitle 32px below. Legend small and right-aligned on the subtitle baseline: 14px circular swatches, the oat swatch with a 1px #D9D3C8 stroke.
- Leave at least 60px between the subtitle and the top of the plot. Keep the plot airy: bars take under half of each category slot.

Axes and grid:
- Thin horizontal rules at 4 or 5 round values across the full width from the left margin. Put the tick label above the left end of each rule (13px, 7px above), not beside it. No vertical lines, no tick marks, no axis titles.

Marks:
- Bar chart: fully rounded bars 28px wide (radius half the width). When values have a natural maximum (24 hours, 100%), draw a full-height oat track behind each bar with the same radius and let the bar grow from the bottom inside it. Bars are sage; the maximum is clay and the minimum is slate. Value labels sit 10px above each bar top. Annotate only the highlighted bars with a lowercase word under their category label.
- Line chart: a 2.5px sage line with round joins, no markers except soft 5px dots on the maximum (clay) and minimum (slate), a very light oat area under the line at 60% opacity, and the same lowercase annotations.

Avoid: saturated colors, pure white or black, gradients, shadows, heavy gridlines, bold title weights, and crowded labels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that there's generous whitespace around every element, value labels never touch a bar or track edge, and the highlight colors are used only on the items the annotations name.
