Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Myopia Progression" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a clean clinical growth chart from an eye-care report. Pure white, quiet gray reference curves, and one confident blue line that is clearly the subject.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Primary series (the subject): #2856A3 (clinical blue).
- Reference curves (percentiles, benchmarks, other series): #A7AEB9 (percentile gray).
- Main text and axis line: #1C2533. Secondary text: #6B7483.
- Gridlines: #ECEEF2, with the zero line slightly darker at #C9CED6.
- Tint for the period after an intervention: #EEF3FB.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Maitree 600 for the title, 27px, #1C2533, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Lato for everything else: subtitle 15px 400 #6B7483 naming measure, unit and range; key labels 13px (the subject in 700 #1C2533, others 400 #6B7483); axis tick labels 12.5px to 13px; axis title 12px 700 with 0.6px letter-spacing; column header over the right labels 10.5px 700 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing; annotations 13px 700; italic 12.5px for hypothetical or projected values; source 11.5px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Title baseline at 62, subtitle at 90, a one-line key at 123 (short line samples, 28px wide, each followed by its label).
- Plot area from x 96 to 806 and y 168 to 512. The strip from x 816 to the right edge holds the reference-curve labels.
- Source line at the bottom left, 11.5px, "Source: illustrative data." plus a short method note.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #ECEEF2, one per whole unit; y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, signed with two decimals when the measure crosses zero (+1.00, 0.00, -1.00). A small bold unit label ("D") above the y labels.
- A 1px #1C2533 x-axis with 5px ticks and labels 22px below it, and a centered bold axis title below those.
- If lower values are worse, a small italic "More myopic" style note with a thin down arrow near the bottom-left of the plot.

Marks:
- Line chart: reference curves as smooth 1.1px #A7AEB9 lines (the median at 1.6px), each labeled at its right end in 12.5px #6B7483 (the median label in 700). The subject series is a 3px #2856A3 polyline with round joins and filled #2856A3 dots, radius 5, with a 1.8px white ring. Its latest value sits just above-left of the last dot in 14px 700 blue.
- Bar chart: gray #A7AEB9 bars for reference categories and #2856A3 for the subject category, square corners, about 55% of the band, values in Lato 13px 700 above each bar, with the same white page, gridlines and tinted post-intervention region.
- Intervention marker: a 1.2px #1C2533 vertical dashed line (5 on, 4 off) running the full plot height, labeled at the top-right in Lato 13px 700 ("Low-dose drops started, age 9"). Tint the plot area after it with #EEF3FB.
- Rate callouts: pill labels 152 x 24 px, radius 12, stating the slope per unit time ("Before: -0.67 D / yr", "After: -0.20 D / yr"). Set both pills on one shared row in clear space (below the lowest reference curve), each inside its own period, so no curve or gridline other than a faint one passes through or touches them. Before the intervention the pill is solid #2856A3 with white text; after it the pill is white with a 1.5px #2856A3 border and blue text.
- Optional projection: continue the pre-intervention rate as a 1.6px dotted blue line (2 on, 4 off, round caps, 70% opacity) ending in a hollow blue dot, with the projected value in italic blue.

Avoid: color on the reference curves, a legend box, heavy axis frames, markers on the reference curves, shadows and gradients.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the rates in the pills and title are arithmetically right, no curve crosses a pill, the right-hand curve labels don't collide with each other or the subject's value label, and the dashed intervention line sits exactly on its date.
