Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Mud Log" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the live drilling display in a driller's cabin. Dark gunmetal panels, thin instrument traces, big mono readouts in header boxes and one red marker glowing at the current bit depth.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1C2126. Panels and header boxes: #232A30 with 1px #39424A borders. Grid: #2C343B.
- Text: #D5DCE2; secondary text and ticks: #86919B.
- Series: #F2A33A (ROP amber), #56C2D6 (WOB cyan), #9BD86B (gas green). One series per track.
- Live marker and status dot: #FF5A4E (bit red), with a soft glow.
- Event band: the series color of the triggering trace at 7% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Azeret Mono everywhere. Title 600 19px, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the event. Subtitle 400 12px muted. Header names 500 10px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing, muted. Live readouts 600 26px in the series color with the unit 12px muted beside them. Scale ends 9px. Axis labels 11px (every 50 in 600 #D5DCE2, others 400 muted). Tags 600 9 to 11px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 40px left margin. Title at y 44, subtitle at y 68, a small outlined "DRILLING" status pill (red glowing dot) at the top right.
- Three tracks side by side, each 248px wide with 16px gutters, from x 132 to 908, running from y 176 to 540. Above each track, a 76px header box with a 3px left accent bar in the series color, the uppercase name, the latest value as a big readout, and a thin 1px series-color scale line with its minimum and maximum at the ends.
- The shared vertical axis sits on the left (ticks every 10, labels every 25, 12px long ticks at the 50s). Depth increases downward; the latest reading is at the bottom.
- A 1.6px #FF5A4E line across all tracks at the latest position, with a filled red 76 x 22 tag (rx 3) holding the value in 700 11px background-color text and a small red caption below it. Glow: Gaussian blur stdDeviation 3.5 merged under the source, filter in userSpaceOnUse covering the full canvas.
- Footer at y 580: a key for the shaded band on the left, "Source: illustrative data" on the right.

Axes and grid:
- Track grid: horizontals every 10 units (0.6px, 1px at the 50s) and three verticals at quarter widths, all #2C343B. Each track has its own horizontal value scale (shown in the header), never a shared one.

Marks:
- Line chart: 1.3px traces, round joins, unsmoothed, one per track, drawn along the vertical axis; an r 3 dot in the series color where each trace meets the live line. Highlight an event interval with a full-width translucent band in all tracks and a small uppercase tag near the peak.
- Bar chart: thin horizontal bars (4 to 6px) per interval in each track, growing from the track's left edge in the series color, with the header readout showing the latest bar and the live red line under the last row. Bars start at zero.

Avoid: light backgrounds, thick lines, smoothing, area fills under traces, more than one glowing element type, shared scales across tracks.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each header readout matches the last value of its trace, the glow is not clipped and the event band lines up across all three tracks.
