Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Mountain Hut" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the notice board inside an alpine hut. Dark pine green paint, a routed wooden sign for the title, a red and white painted trail blaze and cream chalk-like data.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #1B2A22 (dark pine). Title panel: #22362B with a 3px #0E1712 outer border, a 1.2px #3E5B4A engraved inner line 8px inside it and a 0.8px #0E1712 shadow line 1.5px further in.
- Data: #EFE6CF (cream) for the line, the dashed reference line and main text.
- Accent: #C43B2F (blaze red) for the painted blaze (red, #F4F1EA white, red bands) and one highlighted point.
- Secondary: #C9A24A (faded ochre) for the altitude line under the title and for period markers (weekends) along the baseline.
- Muted text #93A596; gridlines #2B4035.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rokkitt: title 700, 38px cream, stating the finding; y-axis values 500, 15px #93A596.
- Karla: altitude and place line 700, 12px uppercase with 3px letter-spacing in ochre ("HOHENSTEIN HUT | 2,412 M"); subtitle 600 15px cream with the period in 14px #93A596 below; legend and annotations 13px and 12px; month labels 700 12px uppercase with 2.5px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Title panel at the top left (x 40 to 600, y 26 to 138, 6px radius). Inside it, the blaze (22px wide, 64px tall) at x 66, the title at x 106 and the altitude line below it.
- To the right of the panel at x 632: the subtitle, the period, and a compact legend (line sample, ochre tick, dashed capacity sample).
- Plot from x 92 to 904, y 176 to 486. Footer rule at y 552 from x 40 to 920 with the source left and an opening-dates note right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #2B4035 gridlines at round values; the unit ("beds") above the top label. A 1px cream baseline at 50% opacity.
- Month boundaries as 1px #93A596 ticks dropping 34px below the baseline with the month abbreviation beside them.
- Weekend or other flagged periods as 9px tall ochre ticks just under the baseline.

Marks:
- Line chart: a step-after line, 2.5px cream, with the area under it filled cream at 8% opacity. A 1.5px dashed cream line (6 on, 5 off) marks the capacity or target, labelled in the legend. One blaze red dot (r 4, 1.5px pine ring) marks the first time the target is hit, with a short cream Karla label.
- Bar chart: cream bars with square corners and 1px gaps, the same dashed capacity line, flagged periods as ochre ticks under the bars, and the one highlighted bar in blaze red.

Avoid: gradients, glows, wood-grain photo textures, bright white, and more than one red element besides the blaze.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title count matches the data, the engraved border lines are visible but quiet, ochre ticks line up with their periods, and the title panel and legend do not crowd each other.
