Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Motion Trace" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a live motion capture screen in a dance studio. Near-black background, thin luminous traces with a soft glow and faint trailing echoes, viewfinder corner brackets and monospace readouts.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A0A0C.
- Series: #FF9EC7 (pale pink), #C7F464 (lime), #66E0FF (cyan). Extra series: #FFD36E and #B79CFF.
- Title: #F2F3F7. Secondary text: #6C6F7A. Active label: #D8DAE2. Gridlines: #1C1D24, zero line and ticks #3A3C47, event guides #2C2E38, corner brackets #4A4D5A, footer #4E515C. Recording dot: #FF4D6A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Space Mono everywhere. Title 700, 25px, -0.5px letter-spacing. Header readout 12px with 1.5px letter-spacing. Subtitle 13px. Legend 12px 700 uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in each series color. Event names 10.5px 700 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing. Tick labels 11px, zero-padded (00.0, 02.0). Annotation 11.5px 700.

Layout:
- Header row at y 51: a r 5 red recording dot and a readout on the left, a studio name right-aligned. Title at y 100, subtitle at y 128, legend at y 156, all at x 56.
- Plot from x 84 to 896 and y 212 to 486, framed by four 16px viewfinder corner brackets (1.5px #4A4D5A) set 8px outside the plot, the top pair 28px above so the event labels sit inside.
- Footer at y 572: source at left, a marker list at right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines at every unit, 1px #1C1D24; the zero line in #3A3C47. Y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, with the unit ("m/s") replacing the top label.
- Named events or phases along the top in spaced caps, centered in their spans, with 1px #2C2E38 dashed (2 on, 4 off) vertical guides at their starts. The phase being called out in the title uses #D8DAE2; the rest #6C6F7A.
- 5px tick marks under the zero line with labels 22px below; an axis title right-aligned under them.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight-segment traces 1.5px, each with a glow (Gaussian blur stdDeviation 3.2, merged twice under the source line). Behind each trace, three trailing echoes shifted 3, 6 and 9px back in time (left) at 22%, 13% and 7% opacity, 1.2px, blurred 1.6. Mark the peak with a hollow r 6 circle, a 33px leader line and a readout in the series color.
- Bar chart: thin 2px-wide vertical bars (like sensor spikes) in the series colors with the same glow, grouped by phase, with an echo copy 3px to the left at 22% opacity; the peak bar gets the same circle, leader and readout.

Effects: glow and echo filters must use userSpaceOnUse regions covering the whole canvas so they never clip.

Avoid: filled areas, gradients on the background, thick lines, rounded sans-serif fonts, and any bright white except the title.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the three colors stay distinct where the traces overlap, that the trails read as motion behind each line rather than extra series, and that no glow is clipped at the plot edges.
