Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Mite Drop" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an apiary health board. Dark slate brown, calm honey-colored bars, and a single alarm color that only appears on the items above a dashed action threshold. Clean and clinical but warm.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #211C19 (dark slate brown). Gridlines and note border: #3A322C. Primary text: #F1E8DC. Secondary text: #A3968A.
- Normal bars: #C9A15A (muted honey). Bars above the threshold: #C4493A (brick red), also used for their value labels, the legend chip and the note's accent bar.
- The zone above the threshold is tinted #C4493A at 5% opacity. Threshold line: #F1E8DC.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Albert Sans throughout. Eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, in #C9A15A. Title 31px 700 with -0.4px letter-spacing stating how many items cross the threshold. Subtitle 15px #A3968A with measure, unit and method.
- Value labels 14px (600 in #F1E8DC; 700 in #C4493A when over), with a 5px background-colored stroke behind them (paint-order stroke) so they stay legible where the threshold line passes. Category labels 12.5px (500 #A3968A; 700 #F1E8DC when over). Y labels 12.5px with the unit ("mites/day") above the top value. Legend 13px, note 13px 700 plus 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow y 56, title y 98, subtitle y 126. Plot from x 86 to 904, baseline y 488, top y 178. Bottom row at y 540: legend chips (12px, radius 2) on the left, and a 344 x 50 note box on the right (1px #3A322C outline, radius 4, 4px brick accent bar at its left edge) recording the action date and which items it covers. "Source: ..." 12px at y 582.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #3A322C gridlines at round steps, skipping the threshold value itself. A 1.2px #A3968A baseline. No y-axis line.
- Threshold: a 1.4px #F1E8DC line dashed 7 on 5 drawn across the full plot over the bars, labeled at the left in a 66 x 22 px #F1E8DC pill (radius 3) with "TREAT 8" in 11.5px 700 #211C19, sitting in the y-label gutter.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 40px vertical bars with 3px rounded top corners and square feet, honey or brick depending on the threshold. Value labels 9px above each bar. Bars always start at zero.
- Line chart: a 2px #C9A15A line with 4px dots, dots and segments above the threshold turned #C4493A, the same tinted zone, dashed threshold line and pill.

Avoid: more than one alarm color, gradients, glows, 3D, red used for anything that is not over the threshold, rounding the bar feet.

When you're done, render the chart and check that exactly the items above the threshold are red, the title count and the note's list match them, and no value label is cut by the dashed line.
