Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Material Options" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a fabric and finish options page from a sofa maker. Pale greige paper, thin lines in the colors of upholstery samples, a column of swatch chips with product codes. Tactile, quiet and orderly.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #EEEBE6 (pale greige).
- Series, in this order: #B5562E (rust boucle), #26345A (navy velvet), #A88D62 (oatmeal wool), #6F8562 (sage linen). Add further series from the same muted fabric family.
- Ink: #2E2A26. Secondary text: #7A736B. Gridlines and rules: #C9C2B8. Text on colored tags: #FFFFFF.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Gloock 400 for the title (36px, #2E2A26, sentence case, stating the finding).
- Nunito Sans for everything else: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in #7A736B; subtitle 15.5px #7A736B; column heads 11px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; swatch codes 11.5px 700 with 1.4px letter-spacing in the series color; swatch names 15px 700; small facts 12px; axis labels 12 to 12.5px; tag text 12px 700 white.

Layout:
- 44px margins. Eyebrow at y 56, title at y 100, subtitle at y 130.
- A swatch column on the left (x 44 to 232) headed "FINISH" and "ORDERS": one row per series, 84px apart, each with a 56 x 56 px square chip (radius 3, a 1px 8% black edge) filled with that fabric's texture, the code (e.g. HL-31) in the series color, the fabric name, and a "Year total" line with the total right-aligned at x 232. 0.8px #C9C2B8 rules between rows.
- A 0.8px #C9C2B8 vertical rule at x 266 divides the swatches from the plot (x 300 to 836, y 178 to 500). End tags sit to the right, from x 856.
- Footer: 0.8px rule at y 548, source on the left and a method note on the right, 12px #7A736B.

Axes and grid:
- Dotted gridlines: 1.2px #C9C2B8 with round caps and a 0.1 on, 5 off dash so they read as rows of dots. Value labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot.
- A 1px baseline in #2E2A26 at 50% opacity. Single-letter month labels 12.5px 600 #7A736B, centered 22px below it.

Marks:
- Line chart: thin smooth lines (monotone cubic), 2.2px with round caps, one per fabric, drawn so the headline series sits on top. A 3.4px dot at each line end. Each line ends in a small rounded tag: a 78 x 20 px pill (radius 10) in the series color holding the last value and a one-word fabric name in white, joined to the end dot by a 1px leader; nudge tags apart so their centers are at least 24px apart.
- Bar chart: grouped slim bars (4px radius on the top corners only) in the same fabric colors with 2px gaps, the swatch column as the legend, and the same rounded tags above the latest group's bars.
- Swatch textures: linen as a fine 4px white crosshatch at 16% opacity, boucle as small 1.4 to 1.6px loops alternating white 22% and black 16%, velvet as a diagonal sheen gradient from #3A4A78 through #26345A to #1A2442, wool as 45 degree twill stripes in white at 20%.

Avoid: thick lines, area fills, solid gridlines, a separate boxed legend, shadows and saturated or neon colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the dotted gridlines read as dots, the end tags never overlap, every tag's number matches the last data point, and each swatch chip matches its line color.
