Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Marbled Endpaper" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the opening spread of a hand-bound book. A marbled endpaper band crowns a quiet cream page, and the data borrows the marbling's three colors as flat, calm fills.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FBF6EA (cream).
- Series (in order): #5E83AE (marbled blue), #C8963A (marbled ochre), #C06A76 (marbled rose). Always flat fills.
- Marbled band stripes: #8DA6C4, #E3C58C, #D99AA3, #F4ECDC, #6F90B8, #D4A650, #C87C87, #EFE4CE.
- Gilt rule: #B8913F. Ink: #2C2A33. Secondary text: #6F6A62. Gridlines: #E6DDCB.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant Garamond 700, 38px, #2C2A33 for the title, sentence case, stating the finding. Cormorant Garamond italic 600 17px for value labels; italic 400 15px for the footer note.
- Mulish for everything else: subtitle 15px 400 #6F6A62; legend 14px 600; category labels 14px 600 #2C2A33; y labels 13px; source 12px.

Layout:
- A marbled band across the full width from y 0 to 64, then a 2px gilt rule directly below it and a 0.8px gilt hairline (70% opacity) 2px under that.
- 64px side margins. Title baseline at 126, subtitle at 154, a legend row of 14px squares at y 178 with labels 20px to their right and 76px pitch.
- Plot from x 96 to 904, baseline at y 478, top at 222. A 0.8px gilt footer rule at y 540 with the source on the left and an italic note on the right.

Texture:
- Build the marbling from horizontal wavy stripes (4 to 12px tall, each edge offset by 9 * sin(x / 38 + k * 0.7)) cycling through the stripe colors, then push them through an feTurbulence (fractalNoise, base frequency 0.012 x 0.03, 3 octaves) plus feDisplacementMap (scale 70, R and G channels) and a 0.5px Gaussian blur, clipped to the band. The result should read as soft swirls, not noise.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines at round values, 1px #E6DDCB, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. A 1px #2C2A33 baseline. No y axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped, square-cornered flat bars 30px wide with 4px gaps inside a group, starting at zero, one color per series in legend order. Every bar carries its value in italic Cormorant 17px centered 7px above it.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the three marbled colors with small flat round markers (r 4) at each point, italic serif value labels at the last point of each series, and the same marbled band and gilt rule on top.

Avoid: gradients or textures on the data marks, more than three series colors, heavy borders, and letting the marbling bleed below the gilt rule.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the marbled band reads as swirls at thumbnail size, the three series stay distinct (blue, ochre, rose), every value label sits clear of its neighbors, and the title's claim matches the data.
