Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Magnet Tests" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a test-station report for superconducting magnets. Engineering-clean and legible: white page, two blues, one dashed requirement line and a red flag only where a unit fell short.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- First series (first quench): #5B7FA6 steel blue. Second series (after training): #1F3A63 navy.
- Shortfall flags and their counts: #C8323C.
- Primary text, baseline and the dashed design line: #1B2230. Secondary text: #6E7683. Gridlines: #E3E6EB.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Ruda throughout. Title 800 28px #1B2230 stating the finding; subtitle 15px #6E7683 with measure and unit.
- Legend 600 14px. Category codes 700 14px #1B2230; the count line under each code 11.5px #6E7683 (#C8323C for flagged units). Value labels 11px (600 in steel blue for the first series, 700 in navy for the second). Axis labels 13px #6E7683. Design line label 700 13px on two lines.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Title baseline 58, subtitle 86, legend at 122 with 14px square swatches plus a small red down-triangle keyed "Below design current".
- Plot from x 96 to 832 and y 168 to 470; the design line label sits to the right of the plot at x 844 ("Design" / "11.8 kA").
- Under each group: the code 24px below the baseline and the count line 18px below that. A 1px #E3E6EB rule and the source line at the bottom.

Axes and grid:
- y axis from 0 with gridlines every 2 units, 1px #E3E6EB, and a 1.4px #1B2230 baseline. Tick labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot with the unit ("kA") above the axis in 700.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped square-cornered columns, 24px wide with a 3px gap inside each group, first series steel blue on the left, second series navy on the right, all from zero. Value labels 7px above each column (for a column that ends just under the design line, put its label inside the top of the column in #FFFFFF). The design value is a 1.4px #1B2230 dashed line (7 on, 4 off) drawn over the columns. Units below the requirement get a 14 x 11 px #C8323C down-triangle about 22px above the design line over their column, and their count line turns red.
- Line chart: two lines, steel blue 2px with open circles and navy 2.5px with filled circles r 4, each point labeled sparingly; keep the dashed design line and red down-triangles above points that fall below it.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, 3D, red anywhere except the shortfall flags, and a legend that is far from the chart.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the "N of M" count in the title matches the flags, no value label crosses the dashed design line, and each group's code and count line are centered under it.
