Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Longevity Paths" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a financial planner's Monte Carlo screen at night. A haze of possible futures in faint aqua, the typical outcome glowing white, and the bad-luck path in coral stopping short.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C2426 (deep teal).
- Individual simulation paths: #9FE3DC (pale aqua) at 20% stroke opacity.
- Median or central series: #FFFFFF. Downside series and its marker: #FF7F66 (coral).
- Secondary text: #7FA3A2. Gridlines: #1D3B3D; zero line #3E6A6B.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Instrument Serif for the title (400, 38px, white, stating the finding) and the marker caption (italic, 18px, coral).
- Instrument Sans for everything else: subtitle 15px #7FA3A2; axis labels 13 to 14px #7FA3A2; direct labels 15px 600 in the series color with 13px detail lines.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Title at y 76, subtitle at y 108. Plot from x 104 to 836, y 170 to 490; the right 100px holds direct labels for the median and a three-line note on the fan ("50 of 400 simulated paths" in aqua).
- Source line at y 572 in 12px #7FA3A2, including the simulation assumptions.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #1D3B3D gridlines with $ labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot; no vertical grid, no axis lines except the zero line.
- X labels 26px below the plot, an axis title ("Age") right-aligned 24px lower.

Marks:
- Line chart: 50 thin (1px) straight-segment aqua paths clipped to the plot (paths leaving the top are cut, not rescaled). The median as a 3.5px white monotone curve with a soft glow (Gaussian blur 4 merged under the line). The downside percentile as a 3px coral curve ending in a 5px coral dot where it hits zero. A dotted vertical coral marker (1.6px, dash 1 5, round caps) at that point with a two-line italic serif caption beside it.
- Bar chart: faint aqua range bars (min to max at 20% opacity) per period, a white median tick 3px thick across each bar and a coral dot for the downside value; the same dotted marker for the first zero period.

Labels and annotation: direct labels only, no legend. Give labels that sit over the path haze a 5px background-colored halo (paint-order stroke).

Avoid: bright neon, multiple glows, more than two emphasized series, confidence bands in solid fills, and gridlines brighter than the paths.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the caption age matches the first zero of the downside series, the glow is not clipped, the faint paths stay behind the bold lines, and labels stay legible over the haze.
