Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Long Run Share" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the end-of-block summary screen of a running coach's app. Deep forest-black background, a tall condensed display headline, muted sage for the routine volume and a volt yellow for the key session, so the important part of every week glows.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B1A14 (deep green black).
- Base segment: #6F8F7A (muted sage). Key segment, eyebrow, peak label and the share line: #D7F75B (volt yellow).
- Primary text: #E7F0EA. Secondary text, axis line and bracket: #86A091. Gridlines and footer rule: #1C3027.
- De-emphasized periods (taper, off-season): the same two colors at 50% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Teko for the headline (500, 50px, uppercase, 0.5px letter-spacing, #E7F0EA, stating the finding), category labels (18px 400 #86A091; 600 #E7F0EA for the highlighted one) and the peak value label (600, 24px, volt, "84 KM").
- Public Sans for everything else: eyebrow 11.5px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in volt; subtitle 14.5px 400 #86A091 with measure, unit and total; legend 13px 600; panel caption 10.5px 600 caps with 1.6px letter-spacing; axis numbers 11.5 to 12px; point labels 12px 700 volt; footer 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow y 44, headline baseline y 94, subtitle y 124. Legend (12px swatches with 2px radius) top right at y 34 to 46.
- A slim secondary strip from y 168 to 222 for a ratio or share (its own small scale, labels only at two round values); main plot from x 88 to 904, y 262 to 500. Never use a right-hand second axis.
- Footer rule at y 548; source left and a method note right at y 572.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #1C3027 horizontal gridlines every 20 units with 12px labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot; the strip uses 1px #1C3027 dashed (2 on, 3 off) lines.
- A 1px #86A091 baseline; category labels in Teko 20px below it with a "WK" caption in the label gutter.
- A 1px #86A091 bracket (8px legs) over the de-emphasized period with an 11px 600 caps label ("TAPER", 2px letter-spacing) above it.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars 62% of the band wide: sage base segment, volt top segment with a 3px top radius and a 1.5px gap between segments. De-emphasized bars shrink to 40% of the band and drop to 50% opacity. Only the peak bar gets a value label (Teko 24px volt, 10px above).
- Line chart: the main series as a 3px volt line with the area underneath split into a sage band (base component) and a volt band (key component) at 85% opacity; the de-emphasized period dims to 50% opacity. Peak labelled in Teko volt.
- Share strip: a 1.4px volt polyline with r 2 hollow dots (background fill, 1.2px volt stroke); first, last and maximum points as r 3.5 solid volt dots with bold percentage labels placed clear of the line.

Avoid: bright colors beyond the single volt, gradients, glows, rounded bottoms on bars, dual axes, labelling every bar.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the stacked segments sum to the weekly total, the share values equal key / total, the de-emphasized weeks are visibly narrower and paler, and the peak label clears the bracket.
