Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Log Tail" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an on-call terminal at night. A deep blue-black editor theme with syntax-highlight colors, a glowing pink error line, and a live log tail underneath that shows what the chart is measuring.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background #0F111A; panels (title bar and log strip) #151826; rules and gridlines #232839.
- Primary series and ERROR tags: #FF6AC1 (pink). INFO tags, the prompt and the latest value: #5DE4E7 (cyan). WARN tags and the alert threshold: #F1E08B (soft yellow).
- Title #EEF0F8, log text #C8CCDB, muted text (timestamps, axes, key=value pairs) #6C7390.
- Level tags are the level color at 14% opacity behind the same color text.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Martian Mono everywhere, tabular figures. Title 600 21px with -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding. Subtitle 11.5px muted, prefixed with the service name in cyan and "//". Axis labels 10.5px. Log lines 11px. Level tags 600 10px. Annotations 600 11px.

Layout:
- A 36px title bar across the top: three small window dots, then a command line ("$ tail -f /var/log/...", the $ in cyan) and a pink dot with "LIVE" (600 10.5px, 1.5px letter-spacing) at the right.
- Title at y = 76, subtitle under it, chart from about y = 126 to 372 with 76px left and 40px right margins.
- A log strip panel (6px radius, 1px #232839 border) from y = 412 to 572: a small header row with the file name and "5 of N lines", then five lines on an 18px pitch: timestamp, level tag (48 x 15 px, 3px radius), message in #C8CCDB and key=value pairs in muted, then a cyan prompt with a solid block cursor.
- "Source: illustrative data" at the bottom right in 10px muted.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #232839 horizontal gridlines at each whole unit, y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, time labels every 10 minutes below. No axis lines.

Effects:
- The series line has a glow: a Gaussian blur of stdDeviation 4 merged under the sharp line; use userSpaceOnUse filter bounds covering the whole canvas so the glow is never clipped.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 2.2px pink straight-segment line with a pink gradient area under it (28% opacity at the top to 0 at the baseline). A 1.5px dashed (6 on 5) yellow threshold with a lowercase label like "alert: 5xx > 2.0%". The breach window gets a 7% pink wash with dotted pink edges and its time range in muted text. Mark the peak with a hollow r 4.5 ring and a pink label, and the latest point with a cyan dot and value.
- Bar chart: slim vertical bars (60% of the band, 2px top radius) in #6C7390 for normal periods and pink with the same glow for bars over the threshold, the same dashed yellow threshold and log strip.

Avoid: pure black, white text, rounded friendly UI, light backgrounds, more than the three syntax accents, and em dashes in log lines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glow is not clipped at the plot edges, the breach duration in the title matches the number of points above the threshold, the log lines fit inside their panel, and the level tags are legible at thumbnail size.
