Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Loan Estimate" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a standardized regulatory disclosure page. Stark white, black rules, gray section shading, typewriter figures, lettered sections and exactly one muted green accent. Official, dense and completely unambiguous.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Ink, rules, header bar, section-letter squares and the primary series: #111111.
- Secondary series: #A8A8A4 (mid gray).
- Accent series and accent text: #4E7A58 (muted green). The only color on the page.
- Section shading (legend row and totals band): #E8E8E6. Alternate row shading: #F4F4F2. Secondary text: #5A5A57.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Arimo: title 700, 29px, #111111 stating the finding; eyebrow 700, 11.5px uppercase, 1.6px letter-spacing, #5A5A57; subtitle 400, 14.5px; header bar text 700, 15px white; row names 700, 13px; section letters 700, 12.5px white; legend 400, 12px; totals label 700, 13px uppercase; footer 11.5px and a 700 11px uppercase page number.
- Courier Prime for every figure: row totals 700, 15px right-aligned; axis ticks 400, 12px ("1,000"); the grand total 700, 20px; secondary totals 400, 13px; the reference number at the top right 12.5px.

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Eyebrow and reference number at y 60, title at y 100, subtitle at y 126.
- A form box from y 146 to 552 with a 1.5px black border. Inside: a 30px solid black header bar reading "Closing Cost Details", then a 28px #E8E8E6 legend row with a small bold row caption on the left and square legend swatches on the right, then 36px data rows separated by 0.6px black rules.
- Columns: row label (letter square plus name) from the left edge to x 322, a 0.6px vertical rule, the bar area from x 336 to 720, a 1px vertical rule at x 740, and a right-aligned amount column ending 14px inside the box.
- A totals band in #E8E8E6 under a 1.5px rule: bold total label with a Courier breakdown line under it, a green accent note, and the grand total in a white boxed cell with a 1.5px black border.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis. Category rows begin with an 18px black square holding the white section letter.
- Faint 0.5px black dotted guides (1 on, 3 off) at each x tick, with Courier tick labels in their own row under the last data row.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 16px-tall square-cornered horizontal stacked bars, segments in black, #A8A8A4 and #4E7A58 in that order, separated by 1px white gaps. The row total always sits in the amount column, never on the bar.
- Line chart: 2px black line with 5px square markers (white fill, 1.5px black stroke), the secondary series as a 1.5px #A8A8A4 line and the accent series as a 2px #4E7A58 line; values in Courier Prime at the right end of each line, inside the same form box and header bar.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, shadows, any color besides the single green, decorative fonts, and placing figures in anything but Courier Prime.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the section letters are centered in their squares, all figures are in the typewriter face and right-aligned, the row totals add up to the boxed total, and nothing crosses the form's column rules.
