Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Loading Zones" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a sheet from a city curb-use plan. Methodical and map-like: warm planning paper, category names in bold condensed capitals down the left like a map key, and flat, confident stacked bars.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FAF7F0 (warm off-white planning paper).
- Series, in stack order: #EA580C (delivery orange), #7C3AED (rideshare purple), #EAB308 (taxi yellow), #9CA3AF (private gray). Segment labels are white on orange and purple, #3B2F05 on yellow and #1F2328 on gray.
- Ink (title, key, totals, rules): #1F2328. Secondary text: #6A655C. Faint rules and gridlines: #E4DED1.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Archivo Narrow 700 for the title (31px, ink, stating the finding), the category names (16px uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing) and the totals (18px, right-aligned).
- Archivo for everything else: sheet header 11.5px 600 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing in #6A655C; subtitle 15px 400 #6A655C; legend 13.5px 500; column headers 10.5px 600 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; map references 11.5px 700; segment values 11.5px 600; axis numbers 12px; axis title 12px italic; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Sheet header ("PLAN NAME / PLACE / SHEET 3 OF 9") at y 44, title at 88, subtitle at 116, legend row at y 146 aligned with the bars.
- A key column from x 56 to 236: each row has a 30 x 20 px outlined map reference box (1.2px ink, 2px radius, like "B4") then the name in caps. Thin #E4DED1 rules separate key rows.
- Bars from x 256 to about 820; totals right-aligned at x 904 under a "TOTAL MIN" header.
- 1.2px ink rules above the first row (under the column headers) and below the last row. Source line at the bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical #E4DED1 dotted gridlines (2 on, 3 off) at round values, a solid one at zero; numbers centered under the bottom rule, plus an italic axis title right-aligned at the plot end.
- No y axis line; rows are 40px tall, sorted by total descending.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 24px-tall square-cornered stacked horizontal bars, segments separated by 1.5px paper-colored strokes. Print the value centered in each segment 34px or wider. The total goes in the right column, not at the bar end.
- Line chart: one thin 2.5px straight-segment line per series in the same four colors, with the category names still set in the caps key style as a left-hand label column (or along the x axis for time), end values direct-labeled in Archivo Narrow 700, and the legend row above.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, shadows, a boxed legend, vertical bars, and gridlines heavier than the ruled key.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the key column lines up row for row with the bars, the segment labels have enough contrast (dark text on yellow and gray), totals are right-aligned and arithmetically correct, and the title's count matches the data.
